WEEKLY SURVEY-AUG 9, 2015
1) Is there a song/artist that set your taste in music? What is it? Van Morrison and Etta James- those are two that I still recall hearing for the first time and just had to stop and listen. They're still my favs and set the tone for the style of music I like the most. Oh and Jeff Buckley singing Hallelujah - haunting.
2) Do you have 'only in an emergency' underwear? No, emergencies call for commando
3) Do you believe in love at first sight? Not at all, but it's fun to pretend while it lasts
4) How many pets have you had in your life? Too many to count, but I've never not had at least 1 dog, usually 2, at times 3
5) When was the last time you laughed? Today, I can't remember what, but my son made me laugh just being his usual self. He's the straight man and plays it so well
6) How many books can you see right now? EEk - none, the Ogre moved my desk into the kitchen for me - part of my therapy. So now I can see into the backyard, but I cannot see my bookcases
7) What movie have you seen the most often? The Godfather, followed by The Birdcage
8) If you lost your phone, would it feel tragic? I would be thrilled - I get a little aggravated every time it rings - like, "Oh, hello new problem, useless anxiety - how nice of you to interrupt my inner peace, thanks for calling". No one ever calls just to chat.
9) Do you like to exercise? How? Before I dropped my basket - 4 days a week, intense hour long sessions. For the past nine months, very sporadically - I need something with some solitude. I'm thinking of running - I love the lean look that runners have, and I know danie is a runner - and just look at her. I worry about my knees though. Maybe swimming. I have to do something - I do enjoy exercise - it makes me feel so good. Fortunately crazy can keep you trim for a bit while you figure out your new exercise.
10) What food makes you think of your grandma?
Breakfast - always at Mamaws: eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy and biscuits. Every single day.

WEEKLY SURVEY-AUG 9, 2015
1) Is there a song/artist that set your taste in music? What is it? I like a lot of different styles so it is hard to think of one in particular.
2) Do you have 'only in an emergency' underwear? Now that SkiMom has explained this, yes - I have some at the bottom of the drawer that I only get to if I have nothing else left (i.e. laundry has been skipped).
3) Do you believe in love at first sight? What Spidey said (see above) I agree.
4) How many pets have you had in your life? A lot - I like cockatiels and cats and at home we had a few different dogs (only one at a time).

5) When was the last time you laughed? A few minutes ago reading the MB (I am copying Spidey here or as kingricefan likes to say "That's what she said!"
6) How many books can you see right now? About the same (once again) i.e. 4 or 5 shelves packed with SK books
7) What movie have you seen the most often? Maybe the Wizard of Oz or A Christmas Carol as it comes on every year.
8) If you lost your phone, would it feel tragic? No - I would miss the pictures and the phone numbers, however.
9) Do you like to exercise? How? Yes - go to the gym for a prearranged program that was done for me.
10) What food makes you think of your grandma?French Canadian food (the other grandma was in Scotland so I never met her) - she was here in Canada when I was five months old, I have been told - but my memory is not THAT good!

Thanks skimom2 :butterfly::star::encouragement:

p.s. the answers in bold are mine, by the way - sorry I was away for a while and missed quite a few things on the board as a result.

SERIOUSLY! I'm encouraged to at least try--I started today, in fact! I have some back & knee issues, but I'm taking it slow & easy and building up :)
When I started running a little over two years ago, the longest I could run was 30 seconds before I had to stop! When I could run a whole 5 minutes, I thought I was grand. Now, I run at least 4 miles (about 45 minutes--I'm not the fastest girl). The longest I have gone is about 1.5 hours. When you're starting, every extra second counts. I remember thinking, if I can just get to that mailbox, or past that driveway, or up this hill. I can't wait for you and HollyGolightly to post a running thread saying you're addicted! :nevreness:

Definitely, I have some Nirvana songs that are very hard to replace (not commercially available).

Back them up somehow. When my old desktop died, I lost some music that John D (old and well-beloved member of the SKMB) had sent me from his private collection--stuff he had recorded from his rock n roll days or his connections in recent (at that time) music that isn't available anywhere else. I was heartbroken. Music is a treasure.

Hi Neesy, I've been to those in the past but my 'learning about other cultures' days are over. Now that all my old folks have moved on, the food has never been the same, only a pale comparison (but still good!).

1. What was the last Stephen King story you read & when did you read it? The Tommyknockers. A month or two ago?

2. Name one goal you’d like to achieve before the Green Ripper comes calling. Too many things I want to do.

3. Have you ever caught a fish? And if so, how old were you when you caught your first? Many. I was probably 10/11 years old.

4. Who would you like our next president to be? You can be specific or in general, a governor, a senator, an unknown…but not your self.I'm still weighing the options.

5. What are some of the things you did as a child, young person, teenager, over the summer months?Bike riding, baseball, kickball, my friends and I basically lived all day out in the woods.

6. Have you ever written anything fictional, story, poetry, memoir with the idea that one day others might read it?Yes

7. In the area where you were born & raised, what is one thing (or more) that you experienced that was unique to that area? (could be a style/name of clothing, a food or beverage known in that local area as whatever, whereas these same or slightly different items are known by other names in other areas, or maybe it was a game you played, familiar only to those in that particular area)This is hard. Where I was born I only lived one year. My young years were in one state, my formative teenage years in another. I will say, I moved from the east coast to the west right at a pivotal age and it was like night and day as far as everything. I went from enlightenment to hickville.

8. Have you ever explored a religion with which you were previously unfamiliar?Yes

9. What was your driver’s education like?Fun! We were the first group to learn on stick shift. I almost went through a plate glass window downtown, and I popped the clutched in a very very very busy intersection right at the time school was let out. I ended up laying rubber, jerking that little car back and exploding through that intersection like a jet plane. The instructors books flew into his lap, and me and my driving partner sitting in the back seat howled, honestly howled with laughter. Tears coming down my face. After that, I was not allowed to drive in town. My partner drove in town and when we hit the country, I got to drive.

10. Have you ever grown some of your own food? For years. this year I let my ground lay fallow, although I still have strawberries, blackberries, grapes, raspberries.
