We call the nightly meal either dinner or tea (I know, we're weird...) Supper to us is the late(er) night snack you might have with a hot drink.

I love cabbage! We eat it quite often. The Man makes a killer Asian slaw that I'd eat every day.Have you ever noticed that when you eat sauerkraut, your energy levels go up a lot more two days after. Cabbage is one of the undiscovered vegetable and cabbage soup with frankfurters is fantastic.
We had chicken salad sandwiches,Chicken tenders,Chicken bites, chips, fruit tray, veggie tray, cheesecake bites. Can't remember what else was there. But they let us each bring home a plate for lunch tomorrow. What did you end up having, king family fan ?
That sounds yummy! How is your husband getting around? Did they decide to cast or do surgery? We had chicken salad sandwiches,Chicken tenders,Chicken bites, chips, fruit tray, veggie tray, cheesecake bites. Can't remember what else was there. But they let us each bring home a plate for lunch tomorrow.

That's not energy, it's the propelling force of flatulence.Have you ever noticed that when you eat sauerkraut, your energy levels go up a lot more two days after. Cabbage is one of the undiscovered vegetable and cabbage soup with frankfurters is fantastic.
No wonder the terms became synonymous. "What do you want for supper?", "I just ate.", "No that was dinner, dear.", "No it wasn't! It was a midday and you wouldn't give me lunch, you insisted on dinner!", "No I didn't!"...Just found this
What is the difference between dinner and supper?
Supper is a light evening meal - served in early evening if dinner is at midday or served late in the evening after an early-evening dinner. Either way, it is regarded as the last meal of the day. Dinner is the main meal of the day, served either in the evening or at midday. However, in certain regions of the US (New England in particular), the words are used interchangeably for the main evening meal. Supper is the older word, dating to c. 1275, and is the less formal term. Dinner dates to 1297 and signifies the chief meal of the day, no matter what time it is served, and is a formally arranged meal, sometimes given to celebrate something or in honor of someone. Both terms derived from similarly spelled French words.
