Since posting here last, I have read Strange Weather...liked Aloft and Loaded the best but all four stories were good.

Short story called The Christmas Spirit by Brian James Freeman...Very short story but reminded me of The Lottery by Shirley Jackson

Started The Christmas Train by David Baldacci but can only take it in small doses. Am about halfway through. He is better at writing thrillers.

Then a Longmire jag...Another Man's Moccasins, Dark Horse and Junkyard Dogs, all in the last week. Starting the next one, Hell is Empty. That is the last one I have here, need to buy the rest of them!

One of my favourite books ever was Great Expectations but have to admit it was the only Charles Dickens book I ever read. Started Bleak House once but couldn't get to grips with it.
I've been on a Dickens jag for several months now and have fallen in love with my new 'discovery'. I hope to read his entire canon by years end. So far it's been Pickwick Papers, Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, Our Mutual Fried, Great Expectations, and Tale of Two Cities. There is a lot more to muscle through but I am looking forward to it. I find his art of character development reminds me of King. Also, his sense of humour is great!

Definitely a Classic author, mal, and I'm glad you are enjoying them.

I saw on the news tonight that PBS and The New York Times have started a book club called Now Read This. They choose a book every month and ask everyone to read it and discuss it on their facebook page. The authors will be joining the discussions. The first book is Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward (I've had this one on my radar). Anyway, I just thought I'd share that in case any of you want to read along. Sounds interesting.

Thank you. I love book clubs like this.

Yes, I was one of the ding dongs that participated in Oprah's book clubs. I was losing my mind.

Somebody was abused. Somebody was molested. Somebody was mentally ill. Somebody was on drugs. Somebody died. Somebody lived. Somebody breathed. Somebody was a dwarf.

gah! I couldn't take it anymore.
