I'm not a native english speaker. Thus some lame grammar mistaked. But hey, can't you take an opinion?
Ah, it all makes sense now, the correlation...as your English progresses so does the elegance of Stephen King's prose.

Really though, congratulations on your grasp of more than one language. Not everyone has the chops to tackle multiple languages!
Probably translating from Portuguese to English is difficult (I would think). Glad you enjoyed it Larry - I plan to get my copy soon - either after work on Friday or on Saturday morning.
p.s. - Val - I like to read in the bathtub too (but just paperbacks):chew::bath:

Please be kind to books . . .don't get them wet and blow them dry.

I'll try but I can't promise.

The more I beat up a book, the more of a compliment it is! If my book get rained on, snowed on, dropped in the tub, or dribbled on...then I really must have liked it! If you see a beautiful unwrinkled book on my person with no water damage, I either just started reading it, or it mustn't interest me much.

:) All writers should hope I mess up their books.

I'm trying to understand this but I can't. I'm not judging you but I find a book too precious to beat it up. To me they are jewels.

I understand your reverence. I wish I could take care of my books the same way. I've always had to live my life on the fly and I'm lucky even, to possess something to cherish till raggedness. I used to try to keep all things immaculate, but I got upset when I couldn't so I just had to learn to let it go and embrace the character, and that's when I got character.

Historically the Japanese have mended broken pots with gold, believing it not to be trash but accumulated character.

Somewhere over the rainbow
I am halfway through Revival and can't wait to get back to it!

This has been a lousy week for me - a hectic one.
Two things in its favor though; the first... It's nearly done.
It's almost the weekend, when my phone comes off the hook.
Which is great 'cause; secondly, I just bought Stephen's book.

It came out on Tuesday and, despite so much to do,
I just started reading and I'm more than half-way through.
Only King can make 400 pages seem too short;
His Revival's excellent, I'm happy to report.

It, alone, might - almost - make the awful week I've had
Fade into the background and appear not (quite) so bad.
I have gotta hurry though; my sister wants it next.
If I haven't finished it by Monday she'll be vexed.

I admit. I read in bathtubs too but not hardcover, they are too heavy. Only paperback. Only ruined one so far that i dropped and it was soaked beyond salvation. I'm doing a little cooling off after Revival by reading John Wyndhams The Midwich Cuckoos. Carpenter made quite a decent movie out of it even if i prefer the book.

Those are the ones that bring a smile to Steve when he can see how well-worn they are. He doesn't understand the keeping a book in shrinkwrap thing.

The Japanese do make pots beautiful with golden mends, that's something I've admired for years but it's my understanding that the pots are broken or damaged accidently. I could be wrong.

I came up poor and everything I have in life I've worked to obtain. I am not materialistic but I am very grateful for my blessings and if I pass a book or anything at all along to someone else I want it to be in good condition.

One of the reason I will no longer check out books from a library is because of the mistreatment I've seen done to them. . . .

back to What are Your Reading . . .

Revival is just 'bitchin! Lisey's story is my favorite book. It's the only book I have ever read twice. . . .this book just may be my 'new favorite'.
