Finished Phantom Prey from Sanford...an ok story. There is a scene early on, the hero in a bar...two potential perps/bad guys...you the reader do not know who they are thought later you learn...but too, in this one, he uses "the fairy" to designate the bad guy (a woman)....fairy as in goth...and he uses that word to hide the identity of the person. And in the bar scene from the previous sentence...looking back I had the idea that one of the two perps was the fairy w/a male accomplice. Bout the only time I felt like I was being jerked around. Still, a good story. People interested in madness, multiple-personality type stuff might enjoy it.
on All the Names now from Saramago and his clerk, senor Jose reminds me of Pessoa...who is a real hoot. Saramago takes a bit getting used to...style-wise...block paragraphs, dialogue within paragraph, no ">>>" he said she said to set it apart...one can follow it but it is not the "norm". No rabbits were harmed by this post.
