Passages is a trilogy? $&@#%^* Does anyone know if the next two books have to be read in order to get an ending? or are they like sequels you don't have to read?
Yes it is a trilogy. There are 2 books out already, The Passage and The Twelve. The 3rd and final called City Of Mirrors comes out in May. Late May I believe. I would assume they would need to be read in order but I haven't even started yet. The Twelve doesn't seem to be a huge favorite though for most people.

I'm reading that now too, but didn't know there was a film. Do you know why the title was changed?
From Wikipedia:
"The movie does not share the book's title at Irving's request; he did not believe that this novel could successfully be made into a film. The name "Simon Birch" was suggested by him to replace that of Owen Meany. The opening credits of the film state that it was "suggested by" Irving's novel. The main plot centers on 12-year-old Joe Wenteworth and his best friend Simon Birch."

The film is not worth seeing in my opinion. The book is amazing on its own and should stay that way.

A Prayer for Owen Meany. Never read an Irving novel before, but I (think?) I saw the film adaptation of Owen Meany way back when? Maybe.... Is there even a movie version of it?
One of my top five books ever.
There is a film adaptation titled Simon Birch.

In my top 5 books ever, too. And the movie is godawful. Irving wanted his name off of it entirely. Probably why I haven't seen A Door in the Floor (though I'll remedy that as soon as I can find the movie, due to a recommend by Doc Creed )

Racing to finish At The Edge of the Orchard, because I have two other review books due in the next 2 weeks. So, of course, I started a 'for fun' book last night as I was waiting to vote in our caucus (hey, it was at the library and I had a book on hold there ;D): Fragile Things (Gaiman). Very good so far!

I would think so. First the Passage, then the Twelve. I have read those. First i liked, the Twelve was a little disapointing i thought but I'll probably read the third part (forgot the name) when i can get my hands on it . I think it is important to read in order if you are gonna read.

Currently reading DT4, half way done, reacher, never go back, half way done, and city of Bones a bosch novel.

Never go back the movie comes out in oct. I would like to finish the 5 books left of the tower before movie comes out next year. That way I can complain about the movies. Lol
I love the Bosch novels. Found two in a second hand shop recently.

Finished Ghost Story. My wife and I had a baby recently, so my reading time was cut drastically over the past month. Ghost Story is an excellent novel that definitely lived up to the hype. I can't wait to check out more of Straub's work.

Up next, I'm heading back to the SK catalog with Cujo.

IMHO Ghost Story is Straub's most accessible novel. The follow-up Shadowland is another good one. With the next- Floating Dragon- he started to get abit too wordy for my tastes. I tried to read his 'Blue Rose' novels after this and I just couldn't do it- much too dense with the wordage for me.

Floating Dragon is my all time favorite of Straub.

Straub is for me an author that kind of drifted away. Ghost Story remains his best IMO but Floating Dragon and Koko could be read too. but as times passed he got more and more difficult to read and i dont follow him anymore.
