Over the weekend, I received a signed paperback edition of Darkness Whispers by Richard Chizmar and Brian James Freeman, the dynamic duo at Cemetery Dance. So far, it's creepy and mysterious. I really like Chizmar's writing. He doesn't try to blow you away with his writing abilities, he just tells cool stories.
I watched Inferno on DVD about a month ago. Thought it was okay, so/so...Don't have much interest in reading the book though. If you finish it and love it, let me know.
Finally finished The Girl with All the Gifts - it shouldn't have taken me that long because it was very good! Would like to buy a paperback copy (I checked out the book from the library) and give it to my sister-in-law. She likes zombie stuff like The Walking Dead (and she's a pastor! LOL) and reads a lot.
Question about the ending. I know many of you have read it. I remember Dana Jean mentioning reading an ARC.
Why does Helen have to wear the protective Hazmat suit at the end? Wasn't the fungus airborne because of the fire? Wasn't everyone going to be infected because of that? Wouldn't she have breathed it in when Melanie opened the door to the mobile lab? Seems like a trivial thing, but it's bugging me. I did quickly read the last hundred pages or so at the library last night because it was due back yesterday. Maybe I missed something.

Aw dang Morgan, I read it so long ago, my retention of that information is just gone. Hopefully someone with a better memory can answer your questions. I think skimom just read it.

I read it only a few months ago, and I still can't remember the details about your question, Morgan! I bet Autumn will be able to help you. Have either of you seen the movie? Last night I saw that it's offered through Amazon Prime. I haven't heard anyone say whether it's any good or not (or if they did, I don't remember it!)
Verrrry strange. A weird feel all the way through is really a good way to describe it. Almost like it couldn't make up its mind what genre it wanted to be....

I'm trying to check out the DVD from the library. It was there last week, but I hadn't finished the book. Tried to reserve it yesterday after I finished it, but was told I couldn't because my library card was initially issued in a town seven miles away. (You can reserve anything else I guess, except newer titles. Grrrr... And the documentation and time to change it over is more than I can mentally tolerate right now! LOL)

going to be starting Hide Your Fear by Kevin O'Brien (i think his newest), and after that Dark Rivers of the Heart by Koontz. saw both in walmart last week and picked them up. even though the Koontz isn't new, i'd never heard of it and didn't have it so i thought why not.

Helen doesn't know what happened, that the fungus is now airborne. She was unconscious when Melanie explained it to Parks. She was dousing herself with antifungal gel after the airlock door opened, trusting that to protect her. Naturally, she also wears a hazmat suit at the very end, as she's teaching the kids, not realizing that it's in vain.

I badly want to see it. It never came to theaters around here, but you've given me the idea to see if it's on VUDU yet. The previews I saw online looked very good!
