Found an old album in my collection the other day...
Fanny Hill by Fanny, and have been listening to their music again. Saw them perform life in 1973 (or maybe it was 1972... the early 70's are all a blur to me
), and sat in row 3. At the time I wanted to see what one of the very first rock groups made up entirely of women, and signed to a major label, sounded like. Was so impressed I ran out the next day and bought their most recent album.
“One of the most important female bands in American rock has been buried without a trace. And that is Fanny. They were one of the finest… rock bands of their time, in about 1973. They were extraordinary: They wrote everything, they played like motherf#@kers, they were just colossal and wonderful. They’re as important as anybody else who’s ever been, ever; it just wasn’t their time. Revivify Fanny. And I will feel that my work is done”
