I enjoy that scrub-board signature sound of Mellencamp's music. It puts me in mind of swamp water backroads, dogs under porches in dusty dooryards, and blue jeaned sweethearts walking down deserted train tracks. His music makes you want to take up smoking, scratch a match on your workboot, light up a Camel and watch cars go by. That's Mellencamp.
Thanks, man. That's pretty much the best description of Mellencamp's music I've ever heard Doc. You're quite friggin' good with words for a guy from 'Bama..says the guy from Arkansas....
Dern right...Thanks, man.
Hey, us bumpkins kin talk purty good if'n we want to, reckon?
I had never even heard of Lana del Ray until osnafrank introduced me to her - I like both videos - thanks!
(((Steffen)))June 3rd marks the nineteenth anniversary of my father's passing. When I bought my first Creedence Clearwater collection many years ago, it was the first time I had heard this song and I broke down and cried. My dad and I never had the best of relationships, but I still think about him every day.
