Today I went to work and came home and took a nap. It was plenty enough for me to handle. Then spent some time with daughter, who's now watching YouTube.

One day at a time.
I think you more or less just described my life!

(except I have a son) :)

perhaps I should say "my usual life" - tonight was an exception to the rule :biggrin2:

Work, visited my mom, dinner, visited with friends while LilMan was at a club, then This Is Us. Hulu pooped out half way through the episode (I imagine the number of people watching at once overwhelmed the server), so I'll have to finish it tomorrow. I love this show (even though I was teary before 5 minutes of this episode had passed--it was a rough one) :)

Today I paid one of renters to serve eviction papers on our other renters. Paid her to do so and she pulled it off like a pro. Hopefully, this will be enough to get them the f**k out of our house. They've not paid but $200 of the rent since December 1st. All we got were stories about how she's expecting a check from SSI and he's looking for a job and parents and blah, blah, blah. Yes, they were not the best choice in the first place but B felt sorry for them because of her disabled child.

The deal was that, in exchange for helping get the house cleaned and making some small repairs, the first month's rent would be waived. Housing prices are booming here and $1100/mo is below average. We asked for $700 deposit and B let them move in on the promise of that SSI check. Which, as I'm sure you can guess, never came.

In December, they gave us $200 so we decided not to kick them out at Christmas time. But, after extending them the courtesy of having until Jan 1st to move out, they did not. We served them two 3-Day Pay or Quit notices. They did neither. We had enough of being lied to and taken advantage of. I went and got the eviction papers from the courthouse. We started anew on Feb. 1st with another 3-Day Notice. When they didn't, I filled out the papers. My daughter (my ride to the courthouse) fell ill on the 16th so I had to wait until yesterday to file the papers. Our other renter (never missed a rent payment in 5 years, bless them) took the papers over at 2:30 this afternoon. Then we had to fill out a form to send in saying that she had served them.

This whole thing has been very stressful for us, especially for my husband. A kinder, more generous man you will never meet. He took care of the finding of renters and dealing with them. Until Feb. 1 when I took over. Believe me when I say that I'm not the sweet one. This is making my husband have chest pains? Oh, I am SO dealing with this! So I did. Now we wait to see if they respond...

Sending some calming vibes and inner peace for you and hubby. Hope the legal system is swift.

Have you looked into using a rental management company for your units?

Well, we only have two. The one in question just opened up and these were the first renters. Both houses are part of our "family compound" so a management company is an expense we don't really need to have.

Thanks for the kind thoughts and vibes. I'll keep you updated. :love_heart:

Standard Thursday. One of our writing club kids brought his first grade sister (his mom said he had to), even though we have always been for third grade and up. She was a terror at first, but I got her sorted pretty quickly. Anyway, the part that made me laugh was when we got home: the two younger kids were telling their older sister about the club and The Terror, and I heard Sarah say, "...and then mom put on her MOM VOICE..." and all three kids just nodded thoughtfully. :) I'm not the sweet one, either, Tery. :D Tons of sympathy for kids with actual problems, but not a drop for plain old brattiness.
