So.... had our eviction hearing this morning. The judge had read over the paperwork, including the statement I had written up detailing the whole affair. She shows up just as the case is called, with her 7-year-old disabled child as a prop (as always - she uses that poor kid to elicit sympathy). The judge asked if she could show cause as to why the eviction shouldn't go forward and she had the gall to tell the judge that she just "needed a few more days." I could hear Barry sigh under his breath as we've heard this particular song many,
many times. The judge, while sympathetic, told her that there was no legal ground for him not to rule in our favor. And he did. A little paperwork and we had an eviction and a judgement for over $4,600. We're just going to turn that over to a collection agency.
On over to the sheriff's office next door and, in 3 days time, they will be calling on our soon-to-be-ex-tenant to help her on her way. Along with her animals (one large dog that was brought in without our permission, a terrier and 2 cats) and her attitude. Maybe she'll get out over the weekend and spare her daughter the experience. Not sure she's that bright, really. If she were, she would've got her manipulative a$$ out last month when we were prepared to forgive the money they owed. Oh, well.
Thank you all for your prayers, vibes, spells, etc. and for putting up with my posts about this. Hopefully, we can have the house ready for the new tenants by April 1st. Blessed Be!
Oh...! On top of this, we had good luck at the brief stop at Goodwill, where Barry found some Craftsman wood working tools, nearly new, for under $25. Then, when we went to the Burger King drive-thru, the person in front of us paid for our order as part of Pay It Forward Day. We should have the opportunity to do that this evening when we go see Beauty and the Beast. So it's been a good day
