Today I am just getting ready to go in and do an afternoon shift - working 4:30 to 10 p.m. today. I might pop by the store on the way and buy a big jug (3 kg) of liquid honey - we use that in place of sugar in tea and coffee.
I had my niece over for dinner tonight. I don't know why we don't get together more because whenever we do, we laugh the night away.
Her friends were bugging her to make plans for her birthday. Every year she doesn't want presents, she doesn't want to go out drinking...nothing. So this year she decided to spend her birthday with the homeless. She invited her friends to come with her. She has been collecting clothing, blankets, hats, etc., and will spend the evening/night of her birthday giving it out and talking to people.
I had told her I had about 8 sweaters/sweatshirts for her, so she came for dinner and to pick them up. But hubby &I I spent the weekend going through closets and added about 8 men's sweaters, some never worn. A pair of men's winter boots worn once or twice. Two winter coats, each worn only once or twice. So, this will add to her pile.

She sounds like a unique and very kind person - you must be proud of her!
I am. I helped raise her. While I was in high school I was her live in babysitter.
That is a wonderful idea and many will celebrate her birthday with her kindness.
This weekend is gonna be crazy. We have the Valley Fair, the Wooly Worm Festival, Appalachian plays at home, and leaf lookers abound...... I'm staying home, might not even leave the house. Y'all come on over...... I can feel a good one comin' on

Those must have been the folks taking up all the hotel rooms when we went through a certain part of Michigan near Marquette - almost did not get a hotel room that night!

Sounds like fun!
- so far I've put the lid back on the composter (the wind blew it off), refilled the bird feeder with sunflower seeds, rearranged a few indoor plants and cleaned up the mess from the flowers dropped by the spider plants.
Now I'm off to go deal with my darks - some can go in the dryer but quite a few of them have to be hung up to dry.
I reheated two big cabbage rolls - that might be my supper at work later tonight.

Anyway, I am feeling like I have more energy now - doing all this walking at work must be kicking up the endorphins!
Still need to do a big sweep through the house and start throwing out stuff we've been hanging onto for no reason whatsoever. I think I'll feel better after I do a big purge.
....my daughter and her boyfriend are re-staining our porch for us.....one of their ways of earning their keep since they're shacking up with us for the time being....
My car finally made it to the dealership! Yay!
