So far today I have only eaten a piece of toast and had a hot drink. But yesterday...

:facepalm_smiley::facepalm_smiley::facepalm_smiley:
I put a pot of soup on the stove on low/medium heat then went upstairs to my room (watched a movie for a couple of hours)

Thought I smelled something burning while I was up there but for some reason it did not click in.

When I went downstairs the burning smell was all throughout the main floor.

My son had been in the room next to the kitchen and did not smell a thing!

I think I better take him back to the ear, nose and throat specialist. He must have something wrong with his sense of smell.

By the way, my largest pot in my pot collection is now written off completely - I am going to throw it in a dumpster down the street
:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

Anybody else done something as dumb as this lately?

Anybody else done something as dumb as this lately?

couple two three weeks ago had the truck bed loaded with construction debris. couldn't make it to the waste transfer station that day but figured to head out early saturday morning. get home, turn in the street, back in toward my spot, corner of the front porch and front garage wall...push the button on the wheel to get rid of that irritating beep! beep! beep! noise, backing up like i usually do, have to cut it close to the porch wall, get as close as i can to the garage wall...and kee-runch!
foot on the brake, what! was! that!...i sit there, idling, running through possibilities and then it hits me...2x8 extending back past the tailgate. hit the garage wall and the 2x8 pushed through my back truck window.

next day i go to the waste station, unload the debris, weigh back in, pay the fee, stop at an auto-glass place on the way down the hill. don't recall the exact price, over a thousand bucks, they can't just replace one section of three glass...they need to replace the whole shootin' match as it is one, contained unit, power-slide back window, rear defrost. $250 deductible on the insurance. live and learn. or in my case...live and learn again after so many years...that ole anderson's disease, i figure, the one that makes you forget? yeah. that one. ;)

Anne arrived on time on Saturday. Lots of tears when I saw her walk down that ramp (and I did hug the stuffing
out of her :)). Staying up late each night, just so much to talk about... Yesterday she wanted to go to the
Japanese Gardens, which were gorgeous as usual, and then to Value Village. I found 6 brand new bath towels
for $1.99 each and they have daisies on them. Lovely. AND I found The Witching Hour, 1st edition, by Anne
Rice. Finally. Thrilled to finally have this book, it 's in good condition too. Not a HC but is an over sized paperback.
It is so great to see her again. Today she would like to go to the waterfront which I can manage too. Very happy
I am able to do these things and it is great to be outside again. The End of my boring monologue :wink:

Aha! I knew it - well I am coming over to get them - make sure you have hot tea and cookies ready for me, kay?!
How about Cheetos and Fireball? ;;D:congratulatory: Today I am going to do some painting- my bedroom (which has been the same lovely shade of green for going on 6 years now) and two walls in the living room (the other two walls are an accent color), which really need it since I noticed how dirty they looked after I moved away the furniture when the carpet were cleaned. Plain white paint this time. It'll brighten up the bedroom as I only have one window in there anyway. Gonna be 90 degrees today so I think I'll give the cat a bath while I'm at it. She needs one....

just popped open a jar of the garlic dill pickles I made last weekend...yes! They taste great! Dill pickles haven't been easy so this recipe I followed is a winner! Tangy and tart. arranged work for two jobs tomorrow, swapping out insulated glass for two customers, have to wrap the exterior trim of one with aluminum, and I might be building another set of steps, too. mail came earlier, package from better-world-books...a story Kurben mentioned, has multiple writers...cut open the package and no. not what I ordered...richard ford's, women with men, instead...that might be an okay story...i've read at least one from Ford, Independence Day, possibly another. sent an email via amazon to the seller. this happened once before...don't recall the seller, but it was a harry crews story, one i'd read years ago but wanted a copy to read again. and they were selling for a high dollar amount. the one i purchased was...i dunno, $20-30? instead of the story, the seller sent me a thick heavy volume, a kind of blue-book of book values. never did get the crews' story or if i did it was through another.

earlier, i run up to hancock to pick up a piece of 1/2" insulated glass that had arrived. accident right on the corner by the glass shop, never-ending traffic...i manage to pull out and pull into the glass shop. new employee there waits on me, goes to fetch the glass, i write the check, he carries the glass out and i follow to help him settle it into the cab. we go back in...or he does, first...i follow. there's a guy in there cursing a blue streak, f-this, f-that, i mean screaming. get so-and-so here now! blah blah blah! i think i know the other, looked like a realtor i know. ducked out of there after the new guy handed me the paid invoice. sent out one invoice for work last week, waiting on prices for another job, slow day, measured some wood that needs to be replaced on the neighbor's deck up the street...told her about rmr-86 from rmr solutions, a product that works great on mold if you're ever in the market.

i'm happy about the garlic dill! it was touch and go there today for awhile! :)
