Watch them in a group sometime; can't squawk, no voice box. They can and do hiss.

Not Black Vulture, those are more mean spirited. Turkey Vultures only eat what is already dead. Prefer vegetarian carcasses over carnivore or omnivore.

Plus, they are so beautiful in flight.

They really are beautiful in flight. A couple days ago, I watched a turkey vulture skate small circles over our barn, then effortlessly rise and skate larger circles before dropping again to circle the barn. I watched it for about fifteen minutes and it never flapped its wings even once. Now I want to take up hang gliding
