What little thing would you make illegal just because it pisses you off?

When you hold the door for a stranger following behind and that person just breezes through and keeps on going without saying thank you, leaving you standing there like a dummy still holding it. Come the revolution it will be illegal and the penalty will be severe.

I read something once that basically said we hold doors open to be polite, yes, but we also want to be commended for it; that's the thank you part. When someone doesn't say thank you we are offended because we have not been recognized for doing something nice. I'm not saying this is an absolute truth but there is some validity to it. Then of course there is the whole common courtesy aspect of it and the idea that simple things like "please" "thank you" and "excuse me" have gone the way of the caveman. Honestly, I have pretty much stopped holding doors open for people here at work because no one ever says "thank you."

What where altruism be if not for an ulterior motive?

I would make it illegal for folks to talk on their cell while standing in line at the cashiers. Some people hold up the line because they cannot get their minds off the phone.
I would make it illegal for folks to walk abreast on the sidewalk without consideration of the other walkers trying to pass.

...same goes for courtesy in traffic....I enjoy holding doors for folks, I was raised to believe it was the right and polite thing to do and yeah it cheeses me when you don't get a simple "thanks" or reciprocity if it's a double door situation....traffic the same way, be courteous at an intersection or allow someone in when there's a long line of vehicles-is it gonna break your damn arm just to acknowledge that someone was nice to you?.....

If I hold a door open and don't get a simple 'Thanks.' I usually say out loud 'Oh, you're wel-come...' and walk away. It usually gives the offending party at least a moment to pause and think......
