It's not really like that. You read most of the book through the big pup's eyes, and thoughts - and you understand him, and want to help him. (I did)
But still a good read. Sad, but good.
Cujo is happy and playing somewhere again, the way I see it.
I'll put Cujo on hold for awhile, if you don't mind.
Cujo was such a good dog and nothing was his fault.

i said that because according to team silent, aside to Jacob's Ladder, one of their biggest reference is Stephen King, my fave reference is the "Overlook Penitentiary" from SH Homecoming that got its reference from the overlook hotel

I should not have looked at this board. I've never been able to convince myself to read Cujo or even watch the movie. Sad dog stories (even if they're fiction) make me cry Conner, it's ok if you don't read everything by SK... I think... Is there a rule about that?

Love the games, but always wonder why the town is called Silent Hill. It's not particularly silent with sirens going off every so often and it also doesn't appear to be located on a hill...
I don't think Stephen ever plays videogames, but if he did I think he'd love Alan Wake - a perfect mix of King and Lovecraft.

I noticed she and the writer who did the final draft both worked in television before. Could that be why the film isn't liked more? I never saw it at the cinema, but it does feel a bit like a tv-movie - although that could also be because it's an intimate story, it's hard to make it very cinematic.
Also it appears she used the novel's original ending.
You may have heard of or know the prefecture or town called Shizuoka in Japan. It is written 静岡 and if you literally translate it... Well: 静 could be translated as "quiet" or "silent" (there even is an adjective: shizuka - 静か) and 岡 can be translated as "hill" or "plateau" (although that is usually written as 丘 nowadays). After some google search for "silent hill" and 静岡, I came across this:
"静岡 [...] 実際にサイレントヒルというタイトルの由来は静岡だったりする。 なんでも、海外に出すサンプルの仮タイトルとして静岡を直訳してサイレントヒルとしたところ、海外のスタッフから評判が良かった為そのまま本タイトルにした、という事らしい[...]"
Rough translation: "Shizuoka Some also say that Shizuoka is the origin of the title. It is said, that when the town name "Shizuoka" was literally translated into "Silent Hill", merely as an example of a provisionally title for the game outside Japan, the staff overseas actually liked it so much / gave such a positive reaction, that "Silent Hill" was chosen as the game's real title everywhere."

Was watching The Lazarus Effect and a dog is brought back from the dead and becomes mean, and yet another Cujo mention! So many films and series I'm watching at the moment have a Cujo reference!
I'm actually surprised it hasn't been remade yet or there never has been a sequel as there has been to other early Kingfilms like Salem's Lot, Carrie, Firestarter, Pet Sematary (those are pretty bad sequels though) if Cujo is so well known and popular still. It's probably hard to do a sequel if the dog is dead, but it can be about a different dog, like Carrie 2 is about a different girl. But maybe it's better they don't make it.
