I saw IT last night to a packed crowd, and it exceeded my most optimistic expectations. What a wonderful film: scary, funny, interesting, involving, a great story, and incredible performances. I had goosebumps of fear and happiness at the same time watching it all unfold on the big screen. Bravo!

It's especially a triumph considering what Hollywood has done to so many beloved works in the past, and how movies are being made these days with less emphasis on story and character and too much spectacle. IT manages to avoid all these pitfalls. Think of all the ways this could have gone wrong, and didn't--what an incredible job by all: writer, director, effects, and of course a very talented cast.

So yes, by all means, rush out and see this one in the theater, and take your friends. If you can afford it, go back and see it again. Enjoy the communal experience that makes theatrical films an event rather than just media to be consumed. And let's send a message to Hollywood that we will reward them for making quality films like this! I can't wait for Chapter 2, if it's even half as good as Chapter 1.

I just came home from seeing It and it is absolutely one of the best adaptions of a King novel ever! Everything about this movie is fantastic! Everything! The kids are phenomenal - I especially think that the girl playing Bev is the best of the bunch. She was able to convey a lot of emotions with her eyes alone. Every one of these kids is great in their roles. They've captured the spirit of the novel in their performances. Wait till you see the dead lights, folks!! GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's only appropriate that my post is post #19. ;-D
