They do it! I have had parrots. They molt and grow back the feathers.
Does not hurt them. They just look really strange for a week or so.

And they are still talking to you.

My pepperbird would speak Italian to me at times.. Former owner. Call the dogs, make them sit..... and they would listen and obey her.

Yah, she knew there names and just what to say. In a stern man voice.
They don't sound like what you think a parrot would sound like.
She had my voice down. For sure. I taped her numerous times. I could not convince people that it was not me on the tape saying random things and breaking out in Andy Griffith whistle.

That's normal? Good news. I've seen pix like that and had always assumed something horrible had happened to an innocent animal which was now sure to die.

I kept her wings clipped. Took her to vet to do it. It is like cutting hair, did not harm her a bit. It was just the flight feathers.

But she growled like hell being wrapped in a towel for a minute.

Then she would try to take off from her cage or perch. Make it a few feet. Drop.

Look around all confused look at me and say in my voice

"You allright?"

Then she would see a bottle of wine. Make the cork popping sound. and the glug of the pouring perfect.

When ever I had guests over, She would repeat a commercial she heard on TV.

In a strong man's voice she would proclaim "And That's Why I Douche"

I swear she did it on purpose. :facepalm_smiley:
