What makes an ARC special? (just to be clear that's not sarcasm, lol, you can never tell from ones typed statement)I don't know and am curious...
They are sent out ahead of publication date so the reader gets to have it before most others. They are intended to be used only for people who are reading the book for book reviews in newspapers, magazines, and on line sites and are not intended to be sold but that isn't what happens in reality. :glare:

They are the preciouuusssssssesssss!! The 'For-special's!!!!!!! Who doesn't want to read an author's newest book before it is published? It makes you feel special! When it's the newest King novel Marsha is on them like white-on-rice when they show up on Ebay, etc. You don't want to have her after you, chumley, not at all. =D (You know I love you, Marsha, right?)

ARCs (or proofs) are one of the earliest versions of the book, as they precede the publication of the volume. They sometimes contain material that is not included in the "official" publication also.

As most people here know, I love them!

Ordered english copies of three of the ones i only have in swedish. Christine, Cujo and the Gunslinger. Then it should be in english the whole collection. Possible Stark... Hmm Gotta check that one. Found out that i much prefered Tommyknockers in English so why not make some other changes. I never was very fond of the Gunslinger but that might just have been the translation. Who knows, Right?

Made an inventory of my collection today. Turned up it was six that was only to be found in Swedish, something i will try to remedy ASAP. The Girl who loved Tom Gordon, The Dead Zone, Thinner and the Talisman. Then also Four past Midnight and Danse Macabre. The first four is fixable without any great expanses so will fix them first. The other two were dfficult to get at a price that was reasonable but i scout on and find a solution. Then there is of course the book that is unavailable here, even at the net-bookstore. Blockade Billy. Don't know what i do to get my hands at that one.

The Darkside of the Moon (England really)
At this point my latest purchase would have been revival but it's about 3 weeks until my birthday and about 5 until Christmas, and I'm apparently hard to buy for so it wouldn't seem right or fair to buy it myself. My mum, nan and brothers are probably fighting over who gets to buy me it.

Have now ordered so my whole collection, almost, of king is in english. Have ordered at a site for used books in very good condition. Good prices. I call it a bargain. Bought The Girl who loved Tom Gordon, Thinner, The Talisman, The Dead Zone and Four past midnight. All 5 for about half the price i paid for Revival. Now i will remove the swedish copies to make room for the newcomers. I am still missing Danse Macabre though. They didn't have that on the site. And, of course, Blockade Billy. Which i havent seen in Sweden at all. Cant even order it on a usually reliable net bookstore. Sigh. Perhaps i just have to wait until i'm in the states again.

I got a very nice hard copy of Eyes of the Dragon for seventy-five cents at Goodwill. I didn't have one so was quite pleased. also bought a hard copy version of The Shining for 10 dollars from a book seller in town as I didn't have that one either.

I have no idea if any of my books are worth anything at all. They are valuable to me and my collection, and that's what matters to me.
