Today I came home with a nice mass market paperback of Joyland, a 2nd printing trade paperback of the revised edition of The Gunslinger and and audio CD edition of It Grows On You which is read by Stephen King, Gary Sinise, Frank Muller and Grace Slick. Stories contained are It Grows On You, The Fifth Quarter, The Night Flier and You Know They Got A H*ll Of A Band.
Nice on the audio CD.

i found Blockade Billy at used bookstore in a very neat condition (except that there are some writings in the side page), SK books in used bookstore here are so rare, like people who own his book here in my country never ever attempted to sell it in used book bookshop. so that's why i'm so happy to found blockade billy because i have never read the story.

also i found tons of nature and historical books, especially ancient history books in booksale, that's why my mom scolded me one night because i went home with tons of books purchased because she thinks i brought it in expensive prices :D

Tomorrow I am going to an estate sale. A home of an ex-used bookstore owner. Looks like the entire basement is nothing but books- the paperbacks have been all kept in plastic bags! I figure that if they weren't put in the bookstore to sell then they must be collectables! A co-worker of mine knows the folks that are putting on the sale (the family of the home owner brought in a professional auction company for this) and she asked them to set aside all of the Stephen King books for me! Woohoo!!! I'll be looking for some Steinbeck's, too. I will post any 'finds' tomorrow.

That's awesome, KRF! Good luck!

I just had a nice score this week. A hardback of Pet Semetary and The Bachman Books (only had a paperback) and a hardback of IT (didn't have at all!) Yeay me!

So, there were only three SK hardback books that I could find. I did score on some paperbacks tho:
DSCF0382.JPG

Zero Cool is by John Lange aka Michael Crichton, Blood Rubies is by Axel Young aka Michael McDowell. Got the Pretty In Pink book for my bestie- she used to pretend she was Molly Ringwald when she was a kid!

I fond a very cool old HB of Ivanhoe (Sir Walter Scott) with a fancy embossed cloth cover for $1. No printing info, but inscribed 1927 in the front cover, so it's at least that old. In great condition! I also found a Graham Greene that I've never read, Brighton Rock.

I finally got a good reading copy of IT today to lessen the risk of my old one falling apart. I got it from the free to keep library by mine.

I also got odd Thomas by Dean Koontz, I'm sure I've heard people on here saying it's one of his better ones.
Looks like you might have gotten the UK version of IT - I only say that because there is a review on the front from The Guardian.

Most of my books are the UK versions, being from the England means the USA versions are harder to come by. I have a few books with that simplified cover style, I don't really like them - I prefer the ones like my battered version of IT.

That's the edition of Carrie I read waaaay back in the day. Looking at your picture of it there took me back to the day that changed my reading habits and preferences for ever. It kind of gave me the chills. Thanks!
Great finds! If you outlive me, you have permission to come excavate my stacks.

And it doesn't even have Steve's name or title on the cover- how freaky is that?

What is that book between Door to December and Night Shift? I can't see.
I'm bummed I was late - I wanted to ask you to be on the lookout for old Sidney Sheldon and Steinbeck - specifically Cannery Row. I'd love to have an early (or 1st!) printing of that.

That is the small paperback of Steve's short story Umney's Last Case. Penguin books published a bunch of these little books to celebrate their 60th anniversary. They did Peter Straub's Blue Rose tale also.

Probably could have gotten some Sheldon for you. Didn't see any Steinbeck's. Got a call from the owner's daughter today (she works for the same company as I do and I worked for her husband also) and she told me I could come over and go thru all of the books and just take what I wanted because there were so many left over and they had called around to the various thrift stores but none of them wanted to take that many books (thousands!). Unfortunately, I have to work when they wanted me to come over and I leave for Seattle early Friday morning. They have to get rid of the books by Saturday.

I have the Umney's Last Case and Blue Rose. I've collected 13 different titles. Well, I have 12 titles, I accidentally bought 2 Colette's Gigi. (just now noticed that). I paid about a quarter a piece for them at a used book store.

That's the first edition of Carrie that I had and accidentally put it in Free Bin at book store. It is worth around 90 to 100 bucks, last time I checked. The one where the title is not on cover. Nice haul.
