The only novel I've read by Harris is Hannibal-which was outstanding! Have you read The Silence Of The Lambs? How does it compare?Today I came home with an stunning unread 1st printing hardback copy of The Silence Of The Lambs by Thomas Harris! Paid $1.99 for it! 'Tis a gorgeous copy! I wonder why noone ever read it?
I detested Hannibal. I enjoyed it up until the ending. There's no freaking way Clarice Starling would have done what she did in that book. She loved her father way too much. Her love and admiration of her father was at the core of her being. But, when the producer (deLaurentus) and his daughter fly to the author's home every month while he is writing said novel, there has to have been some kind of influence happening there. They turned it into a Romance Novel. The only novel I've read by Harris is Hannibal-which was outstanding! Have you read The Silence Of The Lambs? How does it compare?

I thought the ending was a stretch also, but his use of language was unlike anything I'd read before (was Hannibal possibly one of SK's recommended reads at the end of On Writing? Just had that thought-will have to pull out my copy to check). I had seen the movie first *shudder* and think that may have cast a better light on the book as well.I detested Hannibal. I do have to say that I thought the snuff film makers in Hannibal were way more revolting and disgusting than Lecter was.I thought the ending was a stretch also, but his use of language was unlike anything I'd read before (was Hannibal possibly one of SK's recommended reads at the end of On Writing? All I can say is "cornpone!"I do have to say that I thought the snuff film makers in Hannibal were way more revolting and disgusting than Lecter was.
Oh my gosh! wow, wow - how could someone let that get out of their house. I'm going to check my entire SK library now. They're all used.Make sure you check inside every King book to see if there's an autograph! I found a perfect hardback of Insomnia signed at a Goodwill one time at a tiny town North of Seattle. You just never know.....
If you find a signed one, I donated it on "accident" and would be ever so grateful if you returned it to me!!Oh my gosh! wow, wow - how could someone let that get out of their house. I'm going to check my entire SK library now. They're all used.
I finally got around to buying Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men today at my local HPB and am hella excited to start reading it.
