That has been the drill on the most recent tours. Strictly enforced with military like precision. They even took purses away from the little old ladies in Maine to make sure no one carried a book in. I never understood why you couldn't purchase the book from the store holding the event to get your ticket but then get one book of your own choosing signed. But I have gave up arguing the logic of that approach where everyone leaves happy.
Because this is a $$ deal in the end. By allowing only the book in question to be signed, it assures that the bookstore where the event is being held and the publishing company make money.

I think RichardX's argument is that they still buy the book being promoted so the book store still gets its money but the fan can bring a book of their own choice to sign in its place. Our experience has been that most book stores don't want to have to deal with doing it that way as it means extra work for their staff. We've stopped even suggesting that as an option because of that.

I'm giddy as a schoolgirl to see that Mr. King will be appearing in Sewickley. I don't even care about the the signed book (although that's a sweet bonus) but just having the chance to see him in person is amazing. I can't wait for details and hope I can get tickets for my mom and me. =)

Yes, that is correct. In that scenario King signs the same number of books, the bookstore gets its money, and the customer decides what book they want signed. Everyone is uber happy. It actually seems like more work to concern themselves with screening books rather than having a simple one person, one book rule. I have to believe that if they were told this is the way it was going to work they would bend over backwards to accommodate King and have him in their store. That is how most of the book festival events that King attends work and they go off like a charm. Typically much more enjoyable than dealing with book stores eyeing everyone like a potential assassin.

Hopefully these are not multiple trip events that require you stand in line all night for tickets at the store and then come back the next week for the signing, but I'm guessing that is one likely scenario. I liked the Bridgton event where you could buy tickets in advance over the phone and then show up for the signing. No hassle other than the travel.
Oh please no. Many of us are 8 hour+ drives away from our closest signing. Going twice isn't an option. I'm really looking forward to going to the Tulsa event though and completing my Hodges set!

We haven't made any announcements about a book tour for End of Watch but this site (both the Home page and the Message Board) is the best place to get information about book tours and appearances. You might also want to sign up for the Newsletter in case you don't visit here or the official Facebook page often.

I see one of these tours is finally stopping in Kentucky. I knew promises of cheesecake would eventually work its magic.

*faints* Just saw this pop up on FB (and screamed. And scared my daughter and myself--I've never shrieked over a proposed appearance of anyone before--lol). I've never been to a signing before, but with him RIGHT HERE... Now we have to wait for the venue announcement :)
