Replaced the spout in the shower/tub. Broke the first replacement spout and had to run to pick up another. Learned a valuable lesson... Never get anything that says "Universal." Changed the air filter in the heat pump. Changed the filter for the well pump. Added salt to the water softener. Looked for some tools in the garage and gave up after a half hour. And crushed the family in three games of 20 Questions.

Oh yeah... also got this T-shirt for Christmas. Everyone thought it was hilarious. :chargrined:

Thought about doing certain jobs around the house, had a guy over to consult on a few details, he said it was too cold, I agreed, it snowed heavily. I was in the basement twice to look for things which was quite enough. It really was so cold the fluorescent lights had to warm up before they would turn on. Now I feel better if I decide to just go on with book repairs and reading rather than try to rebuild half the house before it gets to be spring and I have to start spending a lot of time outside. I almost feel good enough to go on with the picture jobs I started before the election drove me to a state of collapse, except now my hands are so dry and cracked I don't want to handle things too much.

I received a copy of Siglo 20 (it is a mini-book that contains the photos of the philippines in different decades from 1900-1999. Most were in Architecture and Showbiz and events) signed by author last saturday. In Sunday, i went to the national museum and i have a opphoto of me and my brother in a window art of Baybayin (our old writing system)

Here

Today, i'm done reserving a book that i'll get at Christmas and on the way going to school :D
I like the fifth symbol over (KA) right next to the upside down heart!

took some snow off some of our roofs, about a foot and a half of fluffy stuff on top, a foot and a half of concrete-like snow on the bottom. we've had about ten feet of snowfall this winter, par for the course. been reading some Murakami...Kafka on the Shore is a favorite, great story, check it out. Just finished Sputnik Sweetheart and that was so so, i liked it, nothing more nothing less. windows arriving thursday and a guy i shovel (snow-blow) his driveway and then some asked me to take some snow off his roof so I'LL DO that tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. however long it takes. might try to find the time to get the snowmobile out, put new plugs in, check oil levels, maybe get a trail sticker. we might go for a ride in a couple weeks. not like the snow is going to go anywhere. anyone hear about that kid who predicted where a mayan city would be? some high school kid. sounded pretty cool...he used constellations as a pattern, orion's belt or something. toodles.

Everything was frozen--the litterbox is on the back porch and I have an electric plant warming mat under it so most of it does not freeze but everything towards the top and outer edges was frozen and had to be hacked loose! Cleaned it and collected the trash but just couldn't convince myself that getting it out was worth trekking across the frozen snowy wastes. Had just about convinced myself it could wait until the snow melted when just enough fell to shut off the TV reception. This, of course, was intolerable and since I had to suit up anyway decided to take out the trash. Just as I got out the snow changed to sleet and I managed to clean the car just in time before it was encased in an impenetrable block of ice. Cleaned the car, dumped the trash, and then went to get my secret weapon, so recently acquired I had not used it yet.

I filled it with extremely hot water and blasted the satellite dish. It worked fine after one dose but for good measure I shot it twice. For such heroics surely I deserve a medal.

Snow fell overnight so you could scarcely tell I swept the steps and car yesterday. Had to do them all again. All appointments were canceled due to weather but had to go out anyway for shopping. It was about 30º warmer than on Thursday when I was unable to start the car and today the car started right up with only a slight hesitation. The snow stopped and melted for awhile, but along about 3:00 in the afternoon it came down heavily and steadily. I had to use the water cannon on the satellite dish before taking the car out, and again as darkness fell--twice today SO FAR to keep reception going!
