She was a real sweetheart and quite a character - I miss her a lot - when I hear a lady with a Scottish accent it makes me feel good and brings back memories.

My folks are all from western North Carolina, i.e. the Appalachians, not the coast. I ate souse when I was a kid, and remember not hating it. Everything was homemade, so I'm sure I could get a recipe. But.... nah.A lot of people where I live (southern Virginia) eat souse. I'm not one of them.

I'm in the western mountains of NC....and while my family will eat the likes of livermush, wilted branch lettuce, and cornbread crumbled in a glass of milk, I won't touch any of that.....never have, never will.My family is all from the eastern end of the state (Halifax, Rocky Mount, Wilson...that I95 corridor basically) and they grew up eating that stuff too. I guess during the Depression, they had to make do with whatever they had.
Oh, and our barbecue is better!
I have a hearing problem so any accents can throw me. I have to watch my netflix shows from other countries with the closed captioning on.She was a real sweetheart and quite a character - I miss her a lot - when I hear a lady with a Scottish accent it makes me feel good and brings back memories.

Oh Sunny, you and your east coast vinegar BBQ, come to the dark side, we all know MEMPHIS style BBQ is far superior to that east coast Tar Heel stuff.....I'm in the western mountains of NC....and while my family will eat the likes of livermush, wilted branch lettuce, and cornbread crumbled in a glass of milk, I won't touch any of that.....never have, never will.
