I'm glad to see the boards back! My holidays did not go well. I've been threatened with a lawsuit due to an issue with a dog sitting client on Christmas eve (the dog escaped his kennel and trashed the owner's bathroom). It was booked through Rover and their insurance excludes damage dogs do to their own homes which leaves me on the hook, in the owner's opinion. He'll have a hard time proving negligence in court for a number of reasons (Trying not to bore you all with the long story but basically, I wasn't negligent. They just have a crappy wire kennel and a destructive, feral dog.) but it will cost me a fortune regardless.

I'm very sorry for this trouble. It's always causes stress and anxiety when these sorts of things get thrown at us. Hopefully the threat is just a threat and will go away. Nobody wants to be accountable for their own faults.

Thanks! Unfortunately, the dog's owner is a lawyer so I know he has the time and resources to drag me to court, if he really wants to, but I'm hoping you're right and sanity will prevail once he calms down and thinks it through. In the meantime, I'm not getting much sleep from the worry over it all. The best part is that this dog also did damage to my property earlier in the stay so I actually lost money taking care of this dog before this situation even happened. The whole experience was a nightmare. I have many, many years of experience and have never encountered a dog like this before. He was a "rescue" from an Indian reservation so he was used to being free on acres of land and is now living in a 463 square foot condo and acting out. The acting out escalated big time while he was suffering separation anxiety from his people being away.

Who all is also about to get slammed with a giant winter Jager-bomb or some such craziness? Everyone around here is freaking out buying their bread and milk and gas in anticipation of 8-12 inches of snow, single-digit temps, and high winds that might cause power outages. I'm hoping it'll all blow out to sea, but all the schools are cancelled, and work even is closed for me tomorrow.

I ruined my relationship with tequila on my 21st birthday. Learned a very good lesson - tequila is not for me. I swear I could feel my optic nerve for days. But I couldn't feel my teeth. It lingered. I haven't had it since. But what a night that was!

Today sucked. I broke a tooth - biting into a lemon cookie. A cookie! The Ogre says it looks like I had a filling and it crumbled. I hope that's it - it doesn't hurt and it's not showing, but still. A broken tooth? And I have a cold. And I let the pipes in some buildings I'm in charge of get frozen (and I just typed "frozed" - I kind of like that word better). I have to go see the dentist tomorrow - I'm hoping for some nitrous oxide for fun. Meanwhile, I'm worried about if my morning coffee tomorrow will hurt my tooth and if I should Uber to the dentist. I'm just going to take some Nyquil and call it a day. Fiddle dee dee - tomorrow's another day.
....ummmmmmmm, yeah....that day sucks like an earthbound wormhole.....
