In Texas (or at least the part I live in), if someone is referring to more than one or two people, you must say "all y'all". It took me a while to figure out "y'all" didn't apply to groups of people lol.
Another phrase that confuses me is "up the road apiece". It can mean anywhere from 2 blocks to 5 miles
I quit asking, how far up the road is a piece? I'd get directions listing landmarks I'd pass. I'm a city girl (or I used to be), I need street names to find my way. Turn right at the big pear cactus does not work for me
