So, there's this opportunity to open a salon at the local mall.....it's already partially furnished, and I have everything else I'd need to open a nice 5 chair salon.
The lease price is right. Me and one other person could split the cost and be paying less than our current both rental.
I called and spoke with the leasing agent, and everything sounded great......right up to the point where he said that we would have to keep the same hours as the mall. I can't understand if I'm paying rent, why does someone else get to dictate my business hours?

Most malls are like that. They want all the stores to be open when the mall is open. I've seen malls that require that you leave your air conditioning on at night when you're closed. Shopping centers and malls are kind of like homeowners associations. You want to make sure that you carefully read all of the rules and requirements so you don't get surprised later. Also, make sure to check if there are additional maintenance fees above and beyond the rent.

I'm having kind of a rough one today. Either the repetitive motion or weight of moving fabric around while I quilt has re-injured my shoulder that never fully healed in the first place. And, on top of that, I didn't sleep well. But I've got work to do. I have little choice but to pop a pain pill and carry on. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll knock me for a loop so I can nap.
Otherwise, pay no attention to all the racket coming from the corner. I've set up a quilting nook within easy reach of the coffeepot.

Yeah, that was the deal breaker for me.
I asked if we could be fined for not being open mall hours. When he replied with legally yes but we haven't ever done that. I knew it wasn't the right place for me.
