Gizzards & Rice! There's a hole in the wall soul food place a few blocks from where I live. Gizzards are a good source of minerals! :) And cholesterol. :(

The gizzard, also referred to as the ventriculus, gastric mill, and gigerium, is an organ found in the digestive tract of some animals, including archosaurs, earthworms, some gastropods, some fish, and some crustaceans. Wikipedia

Wow - where did you find the archosaur?

Those may have been chicken gizzards.

Last night was summer rolls, rice, fried tofu, and edamame. Tonight I think I'm going to make greek meatballs and we'll eat them gyro-style (in a pita, with tzaziki and all the other fixins). Maybe an orzo salad on the side.

I LOVE fried gizzards! My family refuses to even consider them food, so I only get them at my mom's house these days. Now I want to ask her when she's going to make gizzards again :)

Tonight I am making Tomato and Bean Soup with Crispy Bacon - I found the recipe in Canadian Living magazine and just went out to buy all the ingredients:

Shoot! the picture would not copy and paste - oh well - here is the recipe if anyone is interested:

No dessert for you Neesy! You're sweet enough already!

I bought these little refrigerated Jello cups and it wasn't until I got home I realized they were sugar free (they weren't too bad with a squirt of real whipped cream on top).

This is for Dana Jean :

What's for supper?! It's nine o'clock in the morning! Though I guess for our friends in Russia(and who doesn't have friends in Russia,wink/wink) it may be getting on to dinnertime..

I know it's early but I'm up and trying to figure out what I want to make. Sometimes it's good to put stuff in the slow cooker and let it cook all day long - it makes the house smell good =D:dnce_pig:

Is that Okra? I love Okra.
Yes, the breaded kind that comes in freezer bags. It's fresh and has a soft crunch. My grandfather usually has enough for himself when he's picked his garden end of summer, it can be pricey at farmers market...especially during a scant season. I can eat a batch of fried okra like one eats popcorn.

Me too! I love breaded fried okra. With some sort of dipping sauce or no dipping sauce. Love it. When I visit my sister down South, we go to Cracker Barrel during their Salmon pattie/okra season. (Where I live, we get neither at our Cracker Barrel). And I guess they are seasonal.
