In today's mail I rec'd a signed book by Wayne Dyer. An old-time member knew of my passion for his books. Since he has passed, this is a pure treasure.

...wonderful, just wonderful...In today's mail I rec'd a signed book by Wayne Dyer. An old-time member knew of my passion for his books. Since he has passed, this is a pure treasure.
The day The Outsider was released, I went to B&N to buy a copy. The sales lady I've spoken to about books a few times, told me that it had been selling well. Told her how happy I was to hear it. She started talking to me about a book she recently finished and asked me if I liked historical fiction. I asked her if she'd read 11/22/63 and she told me someone else had recommended it to her as well.
She's always been very helpful and friendly and that's very rare these days. I kept thinking about our conversation. The next day I went back and they had one copy of 11/22/63 on the shelf. A different clerk rang up the sale, but I asked if the other lady was working. She was paged to the front and I asked her if she remembered me and our exchange about 11/22/63 from the previous day. I handed her the bag and said "Happy Reading." She stood there dumbfounded and told me that in over 25 years of working at B&N that no one had ever done anything like that before. I told her that gifting SK books is one of the greatest joys of my life. She asked if she could hug me and then said, "Wow, you really are a fan."
I don't want to sound mean spirited but I wholly doubt that happened
I'm with you. Totally believable to me.I believe it totally happened. I've been around enough kids in my life to see how hey fit the world pieces together in their little heads and head down certain belief paths.
And I totally believe it because I relate my own kid's thoughts right after NN posted that.I'm with you. Totally believable to me.
Wow! Those are the clients that make it all worth it. Maybe a free cut or discount for her next visit would be a nice thank you?I have a client who came in on a Friday while I was off work, took a handful of my business cards and gave them to all her friends. I had no clue until I mentioned to our manager that Claudia had sent me a bunch of new clients. She said "yes, Claudia really likes you" and explained about her asking for my cards.
So far, I've gained 10 new color clients last month. I'm both honored and humbled to know that someone appreciates my work so much.

...guess what?....you did......I don't want to sound mean spirited but I wholly doubt that happened
For doubting someone's story? It's not like I said "Der, you're an idiot if you believe that". If you believe his story, that's fine....guess what?....you did......
