...I have read both novels, but have to admit that the version that is “complete” is my preference...Welp, I got my music going and a cold drink...let's do this!
Good evening, everyone. I will try to not get too high brow. This time is designated for discussing Book One but we can talk about any part you like. All comments are welcome. So, which version is everyone reading?
Yeah, mine too. There is obviously a quicker pacing in the edited version which appeared in 1978 but I loved all the extra information...well, except for the scene where Lloyd's lawyer yaps on and on about the death penalty and pitfalls of the legal system, LOL....I have read both novels, but have to admit that the version that is “complete” is my preference...
Yes, that's what I'm reading. I plan to pick up reading Book Two this week. Anything stand out to you that you'd never noticed?Read complete and uncut.
Hey, Cat! Yeah, the descriptions of how a victim dies with Captain Tripp's was horrible...horribly great.I'm reading the uncut version. The first part always gives me the heebie heebie and makes me feel like I'm getting sick. Every darn time. This one is one of my top favorites. Funny though, I have an uncut version and could never get into it at all. So my first experience with this story was the uncut version and I couldn't believe I thought the story was bad before, because it sucked me right in and quickly became a favorite.
Not so much stand out, but rather the implications of scientific experimentation that continues today. The fact another The Stand could be on the horizon, and with modern society would the results still be the same.Yes, that's what I'm reading. I plan to pick up reading Book Two this week. Yes! Not a lot of things more terrifying than those itty bitty germs that can cause havoc. You cannot avoid them, you cannot prevent it. Scary stuff for sure.Hey, Cat! Yeah, the descriptions of how a victim dies with Captain Tripp's was horrible...horribly great.
I felt so bad for Frannie and Larry as they helplessly watched their respective parent die.
I've always been drawn to Larry and Stu. Larry and Eddie from DT seem very similar to me but I love them both.Did you find yourself relating to, or drawn to, different characters this time? I have been interested in Lloyd's story and Larry's journey...man, Larry can't catch a break, can he? Haha.
