LOL. No sir, it went a little east of us. It looked like it was going to snow most of the day yesterday but never did. We got a really nasty mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow on Monday which ruined my holiday plans to get some yard work done. I had the house to myself, the place where I work was closed for the Veteran's Day holiday but the school where my wife works and my son and stepson go was open so I had the house to myself. I had this whole day planned of trying out my new bluetooth headphones for my iPod while I worked outside blowing out the gutters and trimming the hedges in the back yard, closing up the vents to the house and a few other things I wanted to get done before it gets too cold. It either poured rain, sleet, freezing rain or snowed all day long till after dark so I ended up staying inside, getting caught up on laundry and not really getting much accomplished..lol

How have you been, Doc?
Doc Creed
Oh, ok. Like in Alabama, November is early for snow. Our window is usually between January and March. Didn't you have an accident while cleaning out gutters and listening to your iPod? Something about a ladder? Ha.

I'm ok, I guess. Having some breathing problems (lungs and heart) and it's getting worse it seems, not better. I was sawing off branches from a tree that fell on the roof and I started to see stars and had to sit for a minute before my horizon was level and I could scale down the ladder...speaking of ladders. Anyway, I won't go into the other junk that's happening. (When it rains it pours. I can get away with that ole cliché in this thread, I think.) I'm optimistic, though. Reading how all of you have overcome hardships and challenges has helped me tremendously.

Oh dear - breathing problems - sounds pretty serious - please keep an eye on that! (Especially since you live alone). I hope there is someone who can check on you now and then (like your sister?) Healing vibes Doc!

Yep, a few years ago I wiped out badly cleaning out the gutters, slid down the bricks and then hit the brick flower planter on my way down then ended up somehow with my ankle inside the rungs of the ladder giving it a good twist to boot. I was between the planter and the house, the planter is about 6 feet long and it's on the back side of the house, no one was home so bleating like an injured animal wasn't going to do me any good. Instead I almost passed out from laughing so hard. Later, it looked like someone took me out and beat my arse all over the back yard..lol

Damn Doc, I hate to hear that you're having a hard time health wise. Keep on top of that, hopefully not, but could be serious sir. Keep off those ladders, PM me if you ever want to talk, it's always good hearing from you. Your home state football team, my surrogate favorite team, is posed to make another run at the national championship and I'm rooting for them all the way.

getting colder here today and tomorrow .Time to make hot tea and work on crafts.
It's 26 degrees F here today or minus 3 Celsius

I was just out in the garage - brrrrr - time to start wearing the warmer clothes - scarf, gloves etc. Might even start wearing my big furry winter boots.

It took me two hours to get home from work in the winter storm last night. 8” of snow and a layer of ice on top. Couldn’t get up one hill so had to back up with traffic behind me and take several alternate routes that didn’t involve steep hills. Cars and trucks in ditches, fields and abandoned on the side of the road. Worst driving conditions I think I’ve ever experienced. I was a nervous wreck by the time I got home.

I got home and youngest daughter had her new boyfriend over. First time I met him. He lives an hour and a half away. I told him there was no way he would make it home and we’d put him up for the night on the sofa. Spoke to his mother on the phone who apologized profusely saying she should never have left him come over with the storm about to hit. She was stuck working at a hospital and the roads were shut down where they lived so she would be at the hospital all night.

About 8pm the wife showed me a facebook post from one of her friends. They were stuck in a ditch on a back country road and the road had been closed because of conditions. They had been stuck there for 4 hours, were out of gas, and were freezing. They were pleading with anyone who could come and rescue them. I told the wife I would have tried if I had the 4 wheel drive Jeep, but the daughter has it at college. I said if no one comes they’ll have to call 911.

So this morning I had to find all my cold winter gear and get the snowblower out, which was tucked behind everything in the garage. After I get everything together I find the boyfriend out at his car, no hat, no gloves, only a hoodie on, one sneaker on and trying to clear the snow off his car with the other sneaker. Seems he didn’t think to put an an ice scrape in the car. Facepalm! I told him I’ll go in and get him a coat, hat, gloves and an ice scraper. I said he should wait until I clear a way for him to get his car out of the driveway. He said he had to leave and would be able to make it out. I said ‘go for it kid… but you ain’t gonna make it.’ His tires just spun and the car wouldn’t budge. I said ‘now can I clear the driveway before you try again?’ He had no other choice. Took about 15 minutes to make one car with path with the snowblower, some cat litter under the wheels, and sent him on his way.

Not a good start for winter... which is still over a month away.

How long do you plan to wait to let your daughter figure out she's dating an idiot? :)
