I just discovered that with my Prime membership, I can read a whole bunch of books for free using the Kindle App.
Downloaded Face the Music by Paul Stanley as my first read. So far, I've learned that he had an extremely traumatic childhood. Negligent parents, batsh*t crazy sister, born with out an ear and deaf on the right side, bullied in school......I always just assumed he came from a well to do home, and went to Juilliard......I couldn't have been more wrong.

That sounds great! I have to look for this one.

I have this in my TBR pile, let me know what you think.
....I am a little over halfway through this collection, and for me it has been like slogging through a mud bog....with each story I get more mired down.....I have only truly enjoyed two of the "children's" efforts, the rest have just left me scratching my noggin and asking "what in HELL did I just read?!?!".....I don't want to have to cogitate deeply on what the writer is trying to convey...I read to be entertained....Straub falls short of bringing a group together that properly echoes the atmospherics of Poe....he had some humdingers as well, but at least you "got" what he was trying to lay down.....this lot?....a whole kitty litter bag of "nope"....see what you think Deej and then let's compare notes.....

Yeah, I hear ya. Straub is so all over the place. One big boop on the nose of incoherent with so many of his stories. I'll move it up in the pile and we can bitch and moan how this rich, popular author sucks.

I do love some Fannie Flagg morgan ! I have All Girls Filling Station - I just didn't finish it - I got distracted and didn't go back.

Nice surprise to see you MadamMack !!

I finished Those Who Wish Me Dead - wow! Very good - I've heard there will be a movie and I'm looking forward to it!

I've started back on One Hundred Years of Solitude. It's interesting and the writing and visuals are awesome. I just think I need more numbers in my IQ to understand it easily. It's a gratifying read, not an easy one.
