Hey, is anyone else a Mayflower Descendant?
Of course the original Pilgrims didn't celebrate a thanksgiving in 1620. They were desperate for food and freshwater by the time the arrived in the lands where the people of the Native Nations lived. Research into my ancestors has been fascinating and illuminating. It opened my eyes to the fact that the English would have died if the Wampanoag people didn't help them. It's a humbling experience to learn that my 10th great-grandmother got onto the Mayflower when she was 7 months pregnant and delivered her son on that filthy ship after 2 months of difficult sea travel. She was strong.

I'm grateful to the kindness of Massasoit of the Wampanoags and Susannah Jackson White Winslow.
What are you grateful for?

Long days and pleasant nights.

Could be a member of the Mayflower Society but haven't ever bothered to do the paperwork. My grandmother was and at least one of my aunts and a cousin are members so would be easier to do than having to start from scratch. We're descendants of William Brewster, Stephen Hopkins and (I think) Thomas Rogers. Maybe we're related. :)

The original Thanksgiving feast consisted of venison, lobster, fish, wild fowl, clams, oysters, eel, corn, squash and maple syrup.

Perhaps that’s what we should serve this year (I need some reason to get rid of all the Morning Doves that crap over everything). Then next year nobody will come... Hallelujah. :)
