5. Freaks of Nature (2015) ftv
A teen, a vampire and a zombie join forces to battle aliens in their once peaceful town. This one started off a little rough and I almost quit on it but it actually turned out really cute. Not a full out spoof, but several other movies are given little nods throughout. It was a fun, campy hour and a half! The teens are the focus, but Joan Cusack and Bob Odenkirk play one kid's parents. Small roles, but funny. Dennis Leary is also in it.

13. Man Vs. (2015)

A man that has a survivalist TV show, goes alone into a remote area for a few days to film episodes of his show. After a couple of days, he starts to realize he is being stalked by something. I liked this much more than I thought I was going to. 7/10

14. Land Of The Minotaur (1976) Donald Pleasence, Peter Cushing

The second movie from my bad movie box set. This is a bad movie that’s very watchable. A satanic cult led by Peter Cushing kidnaps and sacrifices people and priest Don Pleasence must stop it. Was there anyone who could deliver horrible dialog any better than Donald Pleasence (and I mean that as a compliment – he elevated many crappy movies to non crappy status) This movie was probably a cheap movie meant to cash in on the popularity of Satanic themed hits of the day like The Exorcist and The Omen. I liked this way more than I should have. 5/10

3. It (2017, for the third time)

IMO just because bev was rescued doesn't make her a damsel. she was still badass the whole time, even after her capture, basically spitting in the monsters face and saying "i'm not afraid of you" . . . strong characters get captured all the time in movies. it doesn't make them weak. it just means there was something stronger than them. bev was an object of the boys affection in the book as well, it was just less overt since they were younger. bill, ben, even richie for sure all looked at her a certain type of way at different moments, as something more than just one of the gang. in a way a boy would look at a girl they like. since the movie aged them a couple years, it was more or less a natural progression to how boys react to girls. that wasn't all they thought of her though.

4. A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. now this was the sequel they should have done to start with. a total turn around from part 2. tied together with the first one more coherently, progressed the story. freddy turns sly and starts disguising his murders as suicides, and the last of the elm street kids have to fight him off from behind the locked ward of a mental hospital, where no one cares that they're all having the same dream, until nancy, heroine of the first film shows up.

1. A Nightmare on Elm Street
2. A Nightmare on Elm Stree 2: Freddy's Revenge
3. It (2017)
4. A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

And you GOT to like that soundtrack by Dokken to NMOES III. Pure 80's glam rock...lol

15. Nosferatu - The Vampire (1979) A great vampire movie. No gore, hardly any blood at all, but over the whole movie lies that feeling of doom. There is no violence or action either but it is creepy. This movie is not about the action but the actors. Klaus Kinski as Dracula, Isabelle Adjani as Lucy and Bruno Ganz as Jonathan Harker are flawless. There goes a chill up my spine when i hear Renfields giggling laughter. Beautifully filmed. Werner Herzog made a classic in this one. This is also an homage both to the book but also to the 1922 silent movie that Herzog considers the most important movie made in germany. Herzog might not be everybodys choice but i love this movie. 5/5

Wholeheartedly agree! My friends and I saw this in the theater here in the US when it came out. Not only were we horror/vampire fans but we were also Isabelle Adjani fans. This movie is tops in conjuring up an atmosphere of dread and doom.

I spent most of the weekend pet sitting, which gave me a great opportunity to play some catch-up and check movies 4, 5, 6, and 7 off of my list. First, I watched The Diabolical which had an interesting plot but it was developed far too slowly and then left incomplete. Next, I watched The Wolves at the Door which was (very) loosely based on the Manson murders. It was sufficiently scary with very little gore. Mother's Day was next and ticked the gore factor up quite a few notches. Finally, because I often make terrible decisions, I watched Return to House on Haunted Hill which was really just a waste of time. Thankfully, it's pretty short (though it still felt like it would never end). I also started Blackwell's Ghost but it was just unwatchable so I turned it off and am not counting it.

9. The Stuff (FTV)
Everyone loves the new creamy confection called "The Stuff", but it turns people into addicts and destroys them from the inside. Written & directed by Larry Cohen ("Q the Winged Serpent", "Maniac Cop" etc.), this really is more of a fun 1985 corporate espionage satire than a horror film. You might go in expecting "The Blob" but you get more of a feel of a Robocop in terms of 80's pop-cultural commentary with a chuckle. The effects of health food (and junk food) awareness run rampant in this movie, and we're forced to question just what it is we put in our bodies based on marketing campaigns. The ultra low budget effects are hit and miss--some are excellent, such as when our protagonist literally punches a man's face right off and it gushes "the stuff", but in other instances we have bargain basement green screen effects that look like something a struggling film student would make. Overall though, there's a lot to like about "The Stuff" and fans of 80's horror will want to see this one.

3 out of 5 stars.

5. A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master . . . this one is also solid, freddy takes on a new set of kids after exhausting his supply of the original elm street children, the deaths scenes are really wild and unique. one thing i will say about this one (and the next one) is that these kids fall asleep at the strangest times doing things you wouldn't think could put them to sleep. must be narcoleptic.

10. The Atoning (FTV)
A couple struggles to hide their relationship issues from their only son, but we soon begin to suspect they're hiding a much more sinister secret. For the first 20 minutes the biggest problem with The Atoning is simply that it's an unoriginal and predictable concept, but at least it's being done fairly well for those 20 minutes, with a lot of creepy quiet moments. Unfortunately this movie is 90 minutes long, and it goes from being merely predictable to verging on silly. When the story is entirely set in the confines of a house that very much looks like a studio set, the story and characters need to be much better than this. We've all seen excellent horror movies set inside one house, and this isn't one of them. And it's always bad when the climactic "monsters" or "demons" or whatever they are, simply look like Hollywood extras with black body paint and colored contact lenses, because that's exactly what they are. Never good when you laugh at the monsters while the people on screen are trying so hard to look scared.

2.5 out of 5 stars.

20.) Hearts in Atlantis (2001)

Re-watch. Every time I see this movie...
I dislike Bobby's mom more and more. I feel bad about what happened to her and that she was a widow and a single, working mother. But you should never bad mouth the other parent (living or dead) in front of your child. I find her difficult to like.

21.) Stephen King's Rose Red - Part 2 (2002)

I read this book sometime within the last six months. I really admire that SK wrote the miniseries as something that happened after the book. So there weren't any adaptation issues. He and Ridley Pearson are friends and band mates and obviously respect each other a great deal.

The best part of the miniseries was...
SK's cameo in part one!! :love_heart:

Under your bed
Camp Meat Cleaver, aka Meat Camp, aka Campfire Cleaver, aka The Camp that Oozed Blood, aka etc. (1981). A pre-American Werewolf in London David Naughton leads this a troop of ornery, teenage campers into the wilds of 'Deadman Forest' for some sleazy, early eighties hijinks. When Chester, the inbred mutant son of satanic survivalists, dons a fencing mask and begins hacking away at the campers one by one with a rusty, oversized meat cleaver, it's up to the 'Dr. Pepper Kid' and his girlfriend (a rather lethargic Erin Moran) to save the day. Some cutting edge practical fx gore from the glory days of the slasher film, before the MPAA decided to step in and crimp everyone's hose. Early performance from a young Kevin Costner who, despite having only three minutes of screen time, puts everyone to sleep with his dull, monotonous voice. According to Fangoria (March, 1982 issue) six members of the crew were poisoned by the caterer's incorrectly prepared salmon soup.

16. Thinner (1996) This was actually a FTV for me. I worked in germany when it came and only had time to eat, work and sleep for some years. I missed a lot there. This one one of them. This was Ok i think but not in Carrie or Misery class.
I give 3/5
