And loves his daughter? I'm here to tell you he does.
I got this for him for a wedding gift. Her father and I started off on a good note and he's been so supportive of our relationship. I wanted to try and get him something nice for a wedding gift to let him know how much I appreciate his support.
I found a Boker knife, a brand I really like. It's a German knife company, very old company, they make a Bowie style knives but with a more modern combat type grip. To me they have a cool style that I've always admired but have never had the occasion to buy one. I found one a knife shop in a town north of me that sold Boker knives and picked Bill out one I'm really hoping he likes. It's got a 7-inch blade and it feels very solid, made out of good steel. They're not super expensive but not cheap either and I also had it engraved. I bought a really nice leather sheath for it. Tamara says he's going to love it, I hope so.

He will treasure your gift, as he will treasure you becoming part of the family.

I hope so, or I guess he could use the knife on me......it'd make a good story either way...I'm thinking it shows trust, giving him a super sharp knife...:sweat_002:
Something about giving a knife as a gift rung a bell with me. My Mom has passed and she was the one who knew all the superstitions.

I think you have to give a coin with it - like a penny or something...

Does anyone know anything about this?

According to the top hit on Google:

Because of this superstition, it is common that the gift of a knife will be given along with a penny, nickel or dime in the box with the knife so that the recipient can give back the coin, thereby saving the friendship from being severed by the giving of the sharp blade.

That's interesting. Never heard of that.

Shannon! I keep seeing this thread during times that I can't post and so haven't gotten you guys anything yet. Oh man, I do not go to many weddings, at least not the formal kind, so don't really know what to get for a shower. *wracking brain*

So, I got you a suitcase full of this...

...and I've heard that for the right couple, once opened... it will never run out.
I just know that it has found the perfect home with you & Tamara.

My love to you and your family, Shannon... I am so incredibly happy for you.
