LOL. Next week is going to be....busy to say the least. We're both taking off work all next week to try and get as much done as possible.
Is she allowing you to see the dress in advance of the wedding? Tradition says it is bad luck for the groom to see the bride's dress before the big day.

Thank you ma'am. The wedding is at 6pm, Saturday March 17th, or 7pm (SWDT) Stump Water Drinker Time on the east coast...;;D
It'll be a whiskey toast and an Irish blessing for you! (My family is Scotts-Irish, so I can do this) I'll stand on the stump for the toast.
I'd offer to play the bagpipes, but last time I did that the neighbors thought someone was being murdered and called the cops...:D

Don't want to hijack (sorry ghost19 ) but what did you say your clan was again? I'm sorry but I forgot to write it down - was it Taylor or something similar? (In case I ever make it back to Scotland)

LMAO. Her father is very, very into Irish traditions so I have no idea what's going to go on at the wedding, he's officiating and marrying us. He looks like a 6'5 Celtic warrior/biker, very authentic looking..lol

I’m half Irish, and actually have dual citizenship because my mother was still a citizen of Ireland when I was born, which automatically provides me with Irish citizenship. It’s like a freakin’ leprechaun conventions when my family gets together.

You two need to do the traditional Irish toast at your wedding…

The wedding party gathers around the bride and groom. All fill their glasses with mead (I suggest Irish Mist... my favorite) and the newly wedded couple recites an Irish toast: "Friends and relatives, so fond and dear, 'tis our greatest pleasure to have you here. When many years this day has passed, fondest memories will always last. So we drink a cup of Irish mead and ask God's blessing in your hour of need."

The guests respond: "On this special day, our wish to you, the goodness of the old, the best of the new. God bless you both who drink this mead, may it always fill your every need."

Thanks. That's a cool toast. I know her and her father keep in touch quite often with their relatives in Ireland. She's told me what areas they all live in and she very much wants to go and visit someday. I'd like to see Ireland also to be honest, maybe someday. Thanks Dio.

You're welcome. My family hails from Clarinbridge, county Galway. My mother was an extra in The Quiet Man, in the horse race scene. She also watched over John Wayne’s two young kids during the filming, and served as Wayne and Maureen O’hara’s unofficial assistant because they didn’t trust the assistants John Ford provided them. They thought their assistants were little more than spies for Ford. :)

WOW. I'll pass that on to my fiancee. The Quiet Man is just about her favorite movie. Watched over John Wayne's kids? That's amazing.

That's awesome! It will be memorable for sure!
And loves his daughter? I'm here to tell you he does.
I got this for him for a wedding gift. Her father and I started off on a good note and he's been so supportive of our relationship. I wanted to try and get him something nice for a wedding gift to let him know how much I appreciate his support.
I found a Boker knife, a brand I really like. It's a German knife company, very old company, they make a Bowie style knives but with a more modern combat type grip. To me they have a cool style that I've always admired but have never had the occasion to buy one. I found one a knife shop in a town north of me that sold Boker knives and picked Bill out one I'm really hoping he likes. It's got a 7-inch blade and it feels very solid, made out of good steel. They're not super expensive but not cheap either and I also had it engraved. I bought a really nice leather sheath for it. Tamara says he's going to love it, I hope so.

A little trivia regarding The Quiet Man... Ford never liked his actors to improvise. Wayne and O’hara would sneak off to develop and practice their own version of the scene where Wayne takes O’hara off the train and drags her to her brother’s farm. They had my mother be the lookout for Ford, because they didn’t want him to know what they were doing. My mother said one day she saw Ford peering behind a tree watching what Wayne and O’hara were doing, and gave my mother the ‘Shush’ signal with his finger. My mother was too frightened to tell Wayne and O’hara that Ford discovered what they were up to. Ford allowed most of their routine to be filmed, but got even by putting sheep dung in the path of where Wayne dragged O’hara.
