Are the Boards Re-opening on Weekends?

This message board permanently closed on June 30th, 2020 at 4PM EDT and is no longer accepting new members.
I got a full one in my freezer!!!!
Well, I'm going to be the party poop here.
I think the mods should still have their weekends off. Yeah, I miss the board also on weekends, but I think it is unfair that they (mods) have to be here instead of enjoying the time off.
They went 2 1/2 years with no time away from here, and I don't think any of you would work like that at your jobs.

No hate.. I think they need more help.
The thoughts are definitely appreciated (thank you) but I would just like to mention that although all of the messages need moderating, it is still up to DJ and I as to how and when we do this during Marsha's offline time.
Living in separate hemisphere's is actually a bonus because it ensures the board is covered pretty much around the clock.
Marsha has been concerned that we need to take more care of ourselves and so in that regard DJ and I have decided to take a (separate) day off each, during the week/and or weekend so we will both have some down time.
We are feeling more rested now too after the break.
I would just like to point out again that much of the situation leading to us needing to take a break was not necessarily that we work 7 days, (we do not work 8 hr days) but more, it was caused because of a number of people were using poor judgement within the threads. It didn't matter how many times we asked for it to stop, the weekend attitudes were often a lot different to the ones shown when Marsha was on duty during the week and so it all became a bit accumulative and eventually got to the point where we really didn't feel like giving up that free time on the weekends, if it wasn't going to be appreciated.
Yes, we did become exhausted, but the situation is what let to the fatigue. (which btw in the history of the MB has only happened to this degree on one other occasion, years ago)
I think occasionally long term members can sometimes begin to feel a little bit of entitlement, or ownership of the MB when they've been through so much with other people, but the whole point in having a community, is to have diversity... and the moderators are here to (hopefully) bring the balance back in when things go wrong.
Sometimes when we have to step in to a situation, feelings can be hurt... because as mods, we're not just looking out for Stephen's site... we are also friends of the members here too. It can be very difficult being both sometimes.
There is no intention to add extra moderators as (I think we've mentioned this previously?) having 3 people moderate a board (as smoothly as we can) can be difficult enough without adding in extra people.

I did..just a minor Sharknado disturbance. The worst is coming. I'd like to give you some advice on how to protect yourself from the inevitable, but well..........let's me just say you might want to finish your birthday cake.
pegasus216- absolutely no hate whatsoever. As a member who has been here through thick and thin, I have always considered the MB being open 24/7 a privilege. I come from a time when it was 5 days during normal working hours only. And, if MsMod had vacation time- it was closed. The mods do a fabulous job/ the balance on this MB is awesome.
To my understanding, it has always been policy that the present mods are all the MB needs. Proactive moderation. Too many cooks (mods) spoil the pot.
FlakeNoir and Dana Jean - admiration for all that you both give to the SKMB. It isn't said enough-- you are both greatly appreciated for your time, caring, friendship and fairness. I say Thankee Big Big.

Thanks Spidey, it's very nice to hear... and DJ and I both get a lot of support and guidance from Marsha, also (it needs to be said) most of the time these issues don't even come up... because people self moderate.
We just had a situation that quickly spiralled out of control, a bit of weekend space was not a bad thing. (aside from the boredom and addiction jitters
)

The hammerhead that was off our coast died from stress because people on boats, and jet skis kept harassing it. She was pregnant too. People are such idiots.
