My youngest always wants us to have a real tree because she loves the smell. Not doable with the cats. So I got these and I add one every week to the artificial tree and told her to pretend and deal with it.

I have wonderful memories of my ex husband, son and myself going to a tree farm. We would actually cut down the Christmas tree and made the house smell awesome. However, down side picked needles out of carpet for a while.

I have worked in several places where we collectively decided to cook or bring takeout for a big potluck in lieu of gifts. It takes the pressure off of gift buying and everyone usually has a blast. There are always birthdays.
We occasionally will do a gift exchange at work. Depends on the manager at the time. Usually $10, max was $20.

Pushed a broom for 7 hours...
Fixed tire on my momma's Gator (leaking at valve stem)...
Hunted again for a little over an hour on the same high spot in woods overlooking daddy's tombstone. Didn't see a dang thing except squirrels...
Didn't care...
I'm good until December 4th 2019.
