Last month when I noticed a bird had built its nest on top of our porch's ceiling fan motor, I thought it was a pretty dumb place to build a nest. As it turns out, mama bird was pretty smart. Her nest survived the terrible storms that generated those tornadoes that hit Canton and also a bad hail storm. I took this photo yesterday. There were four babies yesterday in the nest. This morning, all but one baby has flown off. The last baby is currently sitting on a fan blade looking around :) (I didn't realize how badly the windows needed to be washed until I took the photo lol.)

Glad to hear mama and baby birds are all okay and you, too!

I've had a picture or two that I decided not to post because my windows were in the same shape so you're not alone on that.

Beautiful land you live on, Bounce. Do you know what kind of birds they are?

Thanks for saying that, I'm glad I'm not the only one with unwashed windows lol.

I have no idea as to what kind of birds they are :( They're not sparrows or fan tails though.

....given the proximity to the house, they may be wrens.....

My birds have the same shape as the wren in your photo except mine are dark grey with white breasts. Do wrens have a sweet nature? My birds seemed to be sweet - they didn't dive bomb me when I went outside unlike some kind of bird with a split tail that claimed the front porch last year.

Hi no bounce no play - that was a play on words:

"fan" tail and the mother bird built her nest on top of a fan on your porch?

Or maybe I mistook a light fixture for a ceiling fan? (probably) - I guess my attempt at being funny fell flat

...more like this?....cuz it's still a variety of wren and yes, they are good natured unless you come to close to babies and they'll go all batsh*t crazy on you....

We had one of these big guys (stock picture above) poking away at the apple stump that I used for the pole of my bluebird house. I got my wife a nice DSLR camera for Christmas and she has taken some really fine wildlife pics. I’ll try over the weekend to get some of the pics she’s taken loaded up here. And I hope the woodpecker keeps it up so I don't have to take the stump out myself. :)

A couple pics of the red squirrel that has taken up residence and raids the birdfeeder are really nice. I yell at him to get out of the birdfeeder and he just chirps back at me until I have to go out and shoo him away. He's kinda nasty to the grey squirrels, also, even though he's only half their size.

Sweet - they're so cute! There's a pair of wrens that come and pick bugs out of my window box. They are the sweetest little birds. It makes me so happy to see them at my window.
Hate them. Wrens killed my bluebird chicks and took over the box this spring. I even put out a wren box so they'd leave the bluebird box alone, but sparrows took over the wren box. There's just no winning with nature. :(

They killed bluebird babies? :big_tears: That's horrible. I've seen 1 bluebird in my yard - ever. He was so vibrant. Like this?
Who could kill such a thing?

The bluebirds around here seem to have more orange on the breast than your pic. But a very vibrant blue. And I battle wrens every year killing bluebird chicks. They go into the box, kill them and throw them out. I put out a bluebird feeder with a mealworm cake, which brings bluebirds around. You might want to try it if you want more bluebirds. Lowe's carries it.

Oh, tasty! I will look for that. I'd love to have bluebirds - they are gorgeous.

I bet they're fun to watch! We usually have one but I haven't seen him in a while.
