Considering how few active message boards there are left out there, we're fortunate to have had you, Marsha, and this board as long as we have. Still, I'll be going through withdrawals for a long time to come .... (on weekends I already still am)

Marsha, would it change your Mind about the Retirement thing, if we could convince a user to come back here ??
His Nick has 3 Letters and you can form the Word KAT with these letters :frog::umm:
Sorry, but no, the retirement is a done deal and would have happened regardless of what happens with the Board. :) Hopefully, you'll still be hosting your site so that will be an option for me and others to migrate to so it won't be good-bye forever. In the meantime, we still have all of 2019 and part of 2020 before we need to worry about it.

Well I am a little gobsmacked. Like so many this has been a lovely place for me and now Gerry. SO glad we went to the Bangor Kon and got to meet so many of you. But hey the only constant is change. And we don't know what the future holds. So enjoy a few days off a week and Love and Green lights whatever happens.

It was said earlier that forums are not that popular anymore and that that's the reason why there's relatively little activity - for such a well-known figure at least. It's surprising that the activity doesn't seem to have increased, especially after the release and success of the new It in cinemas. And there are more King-adaptations than ever it seems.
Still it was the same on the IMDb board of King. While overall IMDb was always busy, which belies the assumption that forums are not popular anymore, there also were always only a couple of new messages on that every day.
Maybe people don't have so much to discuss about SK in general. Or there aren't that many hardcore fans. Almost everyone seems to have read a SK book or two at one point, but it may be the people that are actually fanatic about it are still relatively few. Also he may have lost fans because of his later books not always being that great as his earlier ones. Although the amount of followers on Twitter seems to speak to the contrary - but how many of those are hardcore fans?
I always wish there was just a little more new to read on here than just a couple of messages. I check it daily, but it's more out of habit to be honest. I did get (and still get) a lot of anwers about King I might not have gotten elsewhere, so thanks a lot for that and the work that is put in. As far as I checked other similar writers like King don't have a forum at all.
And it's nice if you can help someone else find an answer, so it's definitely a loss when it's gone.

Well...I have such mixed emotions, I am so happy for our Ms Mod,who deserves some time in the sun...at the same time, I can't help but feel a bit sad and nostalgic, remembering my first post here, I think back in 2011.. I got the welcome mat from Haunted, remember when she used to do that? And the story went on, met so many good and kind members, and clashed with others, but realizing that we are all different people with different thoughts, helped me grow too as a person..Have some friends here that are so wonderful to me,many of you have made me laugh, cry, and think about how I view the world..I know we have lots of time to discuss the end of the SKMB as it currently exists, but I was late to the announcement here and wanted to chime in..thank you all for your thoughts, the discussions, the arguments, all of it was simply joy because we rarely get to meet such a diverse group that has at least on major thing in common, and that is our love of Stephen's writing..special thanks to he and Ms Mod and our great group of moderators, whom I am sure I have caused much angst over the years.. <3
