You can keep the thread 'alive' by posting your thoughts for others to read and reply. That's the fun of threads.Dang.........I hate it when I'm reading a thread that pops up on the side and get halfway through all the responses only to find it was posted years ago
Oh yes. I agree entirely. Also- once she found out she was the dark wife, on the other side of the mirror. Ending him was a way to get vigilante justice for all those victims- but also, to re-establish herself back on the right side of the mirror. Loved that analogy btw.The remaining family members would have been forever tarnished by that man's deeds. She would have forever been the subject of speculation (did she really know? how could she NOT know?) and the children would have had to endure a lifetime of shame, a lifetime of pain for all of them. I would have done exactly what she did.
....and we have enjoyed your one and only post if tradition is followed...doing some random reading, stumbled upon this thread ... and it sickened me. The flippancy of responses, the base accusations, the crude theorising - what did I just read. If anyone had bothered to read the wichita eagle article, it talked about the discovery of Rader as BTK and what followed, including 'Oprah called. CNN called' If Rawson wanted the money and fame, she could have had it.
As to previous movies being made on the subject, don't you think it is a bit different to a) have the clout and reach of the King name, and b) do a fictional movie as opposed to a documentary? Especially since it is a decade after the fact - how could none of the original posters understand how traumatic it must've been for someone who desperately tried to put this behind them see it dug up by one of the biggest names in modern literature? Which leads to the final, obvious point ...
Why did he have to name BTK? Why not just leave it as an open-ended idea? BTK was neither the first nor the last to live out the 'secret life' trope, so why the hell credit him as inspiration for the idea?
I know y'all are King fanatics or whatever, but reading these responses about 'obviously it's about money' etc were the real horror. Get some humanity.
Welcome. You better go after Katherine Ramsland, too, as she wrote a non-fiction book about Rader. Just saying.doing some random reading, stumbled upon this thread ... and it sickened me. Which I'm reading right now.Welcome. You better go after Katherine Ramsland, too, as she wrote a non-fiction book about Rader. Just saying.
I know, I read your post up above. I've read two other books by Ramsland- both of which were related to/about Anne Rice. She's a well educated writer.Which I'm reading right now.
So far, this book is pretty interesting.I know, I read your post up above. I've read two other books by Ramsland- both of which were related to/about Anne Rice. She's a well educated writer.
He is not exploiting anyone. A seed of an idea came from BTK, the rest of the story is fiction.
Uh, I think she should be focusing her energy and feelings of being exploited on her butchering father. Step off Kerri.
They got no regrets about their murderin' fathers. And they think they're the victims of everything. Osama bin Laden's daughter acted in a similar way when she accused us of killing her dad "for no reason." Never mind that my daughter's dad and 100's if not 1000's of other kids' dads were ordered killed by HER dad for no good reason bc there's nothing wrong with her dad's orders, apparently. THEY'RE the victims, the only victims and nothing but the victims in whatever passes for their minds.
I seriously don't understand them but I felt enraged when the media had the nerve to print something like that less than a week after the mission and Seymour Hersh has decided to weigh in on how terrible we were for killing bin Laden (and never mind that people in the guest house started the deadly force. I read about the mission. Someone in the guest house on the first level started the shooting and even bin Laden's son was shooting at them on the second level. How were they supposed to assume bin Laden wouldn't ALSO be shooting at them? Were they supposed to find it out by waiting for him to shoot one of them dead?
The soldiers from ST6 were sent there to do one thing, and they did it brilliantly. It's never a good idea to get into a close quarters gunfight with SEALS. The outcome is pretty much a given. There are situations where the level of lethal force has to be matched and dealt with. The soldiers did that and brought everyone on their team back home safely.
