...strictly cars....I don't know much about dirt racing, is it bikes or cars, or both? I used to run the board on NASCAR at my old job, but our traffic guy stopped doing his NASCAR show here because he had too many other irons in the fire .....

Dinah Shore was one of the big loves of his life. They had a relationship but kept it out of the spot light for quite a while.Burt was one handsome man. I read his biography, My Life. I can remember how disappointed I was in it as he was narcissistic and arrogant -- angry. All he said the whole book was "I was the number one box office star for....... years and no one appreciated me."
What I had hoped to read was the amazing stories about his life. He was a fantastic story teller and had a brilliant sense of humor. I wanted more of that.
If you care to and get the chance, try to watch his Dinah Shore interviews on youtube. He was charming and self deprecating and smart. And I wanted more of that.
I just finished reading Deliverance and while I read, the movie was playing in my head. He will always be that guy for me. And Smokey and the Bandit, Cannonball Run, The Longest Yard. That was the guy he will be for me. I can't tell you how many times I walked in my house to see my dad watching the Bandit. And laughing. Fond memory. I'd see that and say, "Daaaaad! This again?"
And I would really like to give him a shout out for taking the role in Boogie Nights. I think that was a tough one for him to embrace personally. He wasn't the leading guy. He was the supporting player and he did a great job.
So, rest in peace Burt.
Yes, he always said he loved her and wanted to marry her if I remember correctly, but I think she was the one that kept it friends with benefits. And they always seemed like such an odd couple to me.Dinah Shore was one of the big loves of his life. They had a relationship but kept it out of the spot light for quite a while.
Awww that's so sweet.I knew this was coming, but boy it's still somehow a shock and sad. Since 2010 February 11 has been "Burtday" (i.e. the true Valentine's Day). Each Burtday I rope whatever friends are free into enjoying some cake and a Reynolds film or two. It's quite fun (and usually first time Reynolds viewing for at least one party member). I am including pictures from this past Burtday festivities. Goodness, this year's Burtday is going to have to include an extra celebration of life! Reading the posts here, I am getting some ideas of what I should show.

I love Archer. My favorite Burt Reynolds movie was Shamus. There's a scene where
his buddy and researcher is found dead. Burt was so believable in it, with tears and guilt and everything
that's when I realized that he had some real acting chops. Watch it some time.
I also loved the episode of Archer that he was in. So funny and bada$$. Oh, and, my Mom and her co-workers had that pin-up in an out-of-the-way place. That was my first nekkid man
RIP Burt. I love you.
He had the most self deprecating sense of humor which just made him even more attractive....and considering Burt's sense of humor, I feel he would chuckle at this one.......with the amount of plastic in him, the funeral home is placing him in their recycle bin.....
