Wicked costume! I don't know who Maleficent is but I love the costume
I know what you mean. A few years ago someone asked me how much I would charge for a stocking. I said $85. She got a bit upset saying it's "just" a stocking. But I asked how much she thought I should charge. The materials cost me $35+ and each stocking is easily 100+ hours. I would no longer do it that cheap.
Wow, this is great! Your daughter is beautiful! Here's my daughter in her Maleficent costume. I made the horns, cape, choker and scepter.

Like!!Well... If you're only going to charge $85, I would gladly buy a couple
When hubby was welding, I used to make him welding caps (like baseball caps only fitted without the plastic strap and made of sturdy 100% cotton so they could be thrown in the washing machine often). Sometimes other welders would ask him if they could buy caps from me but the dang things took me an entire day to make and nobody in their right mind is going to spend more than $10 on a welding cap lol.

Not sure what happened but the response I thought I posted earlier has disappeared but here it is now (fingers crossed). You did a terrific job, Mom! Those horns must have been quite a challenge. Here's my daughter in her Maleficent costume. I made the horns, cape, choker and scepter.

Very impressive and professional looking! Pricing handmade items is a losing proposition. Time and cost of materials are almost always going to out-price the finished product unless you've reached celebrity status and/or found a market where people are willing and able to pay what has gone into making it.Well... People just don't understand the time and materials it takes to hand make things at home. They always think the pricing is going to be similar to what a store charges. I once quoted a price (no contract, no commitment, only a quote) for a giant cupcake cake to feed 20+ people to a coworker and when I told her the price she got mad at me and from then on gave me the cold shoulder at work. Granted, she was a bit loony to begin with, but c'mon!Well... If you're only going to charge $85, I would gladly buy a couple

Hey... I giving her mucho credit, here. Those horns obviously took a lot of time and effort. Mine came naturally.
Thanks, Ms. Mod! They weren't too bad. Lots of duct tape and aluminium foil! Not sure what happened but the response I thought I posted earlier has disappeared but here it is now (fingers crossed). You did a terrific job, Mom! Those horns must have been quite a challenge.

Duct tape--how did we ever live without it!Thanks, Ms. Mod! They weren't too bad. Lots of duct tape and aluminium foil!
My dad used to say "Duct tape is like the Force. It has a dark side and a light side and it holds the universe together!"Duct tape--how did we ever live without it!
