We always made elderberry wine. Pretty good stuff, actually.I want to try making these elderberry thumb print cookies again. Last time they were more biscuit than cookie; I screwed up. I had them before with plum jelly and it was the best combination with the sweet, buttery cookie.
Will you be making blue raspberry thumbprint cookies this year, Sunny? We always made elderberry wine. Pretty good stuff, actually.
Nah, I got pissed off at the briers because they didn't produce anything this year, and chopped them down. Maybe they'll come back with a vengeance next year. Will you be making blue raspberry thumbprint cookies this year, Sunny?
Will your magic pixie dust sprinkles hold up till then?Nah, I got pissed off at the briers because they didn't produce anything this year, and chopped them down. Maybe they'll come back with a vengeance next year.
We can only hope.......Will your magic pixie dust sprinkles hold up till then?

Thanks, Neesy, that may have been my mistake the first time. I plan on using a slightly different recipe this time. It's been said that cooking is an art and baking is a science.
Be sure to measure your ingredients very accurately. Sift the flour into the measuring cup, then level it off with a knife. Then sift it again when adding it in to the other ingredients. Don't just guess or eyeball anything.
Hope that helps.
Also add the dry ingredients very slowly to the wet, and make sure your butter is well beaten before adding the sugar gradually, beating after each addition.
By the way, that picture looks so good. I should be in the kitchen right now, baking!
When I was about 12 I tried baking. My Mom's cookbook had two pages in it on basic cookie making. Thanks, Neesy, that may have been my mistake the first time. I plan on using a slightly different recipe this time.
My turn to sound "know-it-ally" (that's a phrase I just made up!) I make my cookies a week or so ahead of time. Place them on a paper plate, then in a large Ziploc baggie and stack them in the freezer, with a piece of waxed paper between if layering the cookies. Then take them out of the freezer the night before you want to serve them. They are soft and delicious!!When I was about 12 I tried baking. I think I need to go read it again. Sometimes I get lazy and just throw a bunch of things in a bowl but normally it works better when I take more care.
Hope I didn't sound like a "Know-it-All" up above
'Tis the season, eh? I should be making some Christmas cookies!
At least they will be nice and fresh if I wait until Monday, before I go pick up Andy at the airport.
It's not a tradition I've ever heard of for Christmas trees. Sounds more like something that that particular character does. In Bangor, people put their trees out for collection by the city after Christmas and they are turned into woodchips.I have a question so I finished the novel "H is for Hawk" and it's an autobiographical book I think. The author lost her Dad suddendly and gets a Hawk. It's a great book.
For Christmas she travels to friends in Maine and they celebrate christmas together. Right after christmas they want to fly back to Great Britain but before the host gets the tree out of the house and sets it on fire. Is this a true thing in Maine?
the christmas tree will stay till epiphany. The trees are often collected for a little donation and some will be burned easter sunday while traditional easter fires.
Cow is still updating news. Just in case you all want to know. Flashing police lights and a cow. Looks sly in every photo and video.
'Ginger' is staying in. Showed her all happy chewing hay.
Don't know where 'Stormy' is. But safe somewhere.

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas, including the critters!!Merry Christmas
One week and Christmas is here. I work this Christmas but thankfully I work from 7am to 15pm next Sunday 24th, when we celebrate
Christmas eve, so I get some time to eat good food and spend time with family and friends after work.
Right, but most People i know, throw them over the balcony and haul them to the Dump
