If anyone has kidlets, northpole.com is a great site! Recipes, games, coloring pages, stories, play along pages, and an email letter from Santa. My kids really liked it. Nick is too old this year (a bit sad about that--likely last trick or treating this year, too), but I just checked and it's still an active site :)
Thank you! I will check into this because I babysit a little boy, and we do all sorts of fun things like this.

I want to make this for Christmas. I'm also looking at an orange bundt cake with orange glaze. I am making some snickerdoodle cookies, too. Dang, maybe I'm just hungry.
Snickerdoodles? Those sound interesting - I used to make those butter cookies you cut into shapes, put icing on and decorate with sprinkles and little silver balls etc.

Where did I get all the energy?

I think the last time I did these was in December 2015!

I like Christmas a lot except for two things, or at least two as I sit here typing right now, and if there are more, I'll probably forget them later just as I'm probably forgetting them now. But I digress. The two:

1. Traffic.
2. The yearly background noises of "Wah, people don't say Merry Christmas anymore" and "Wah, I despise Christmas." Both of you, just please try to get over it, move on, and maybe enjoy it like the rest of us. If not, don't disrupt our enjoyment.

Gosh, I sound crabby this morning. Maybe it's the extra hour. But anyway, I don't say "Merry Christmas" until it's actually close to Christmas.

Traffic gets worst this time of year due to snowbirds. Seems to be more Grinch's about too. Maybe it's the stress of the season. Taking from a famous cuddly bear-- Pooh just is-- should be the attitude of more people.

Totally agree. I despise the traffic and the grumpy people pushing and shoving. And my temperature always goes through the roof in stores waiting in lines. I need a fan directly on my face Mr. J.C. Penneys. So, that's why I will have my shopping done this month. I ain't rubbing elbows with the masses because I can get snarly -- sort of defeats the purpose of my happy little Christmas bubble.

I have not started saying any holiday greeting at this point, but when the time comes, I hope everyone can just not lose their collective sh*t if someone gives them a greeting that is meant with good will and intent.

Best times to shop? Late at night if the store stays open. At least for me it works. Usually if I need some last minute thing, I am in and out. And I'm not a looker. I don't spend hours looking at merchandise. I go in with a game plan, I know what I'm looking for. I get it and go. If I can't find it, I go. No searching rack after rack for something. Hate that!

What I miss a lot about Christmas times-- NYC as a child window shopping in the city with my nana. What marvelous displays. A lost art.
I am like you-- list in hand, in and out. List in order of aisle/ cross off or circle if need to find elsewhere.

I would love to see the xmas windows in New York. Just to say I have. It might end up being the scene where Clark Griswold looks at the grand canyon, bobbing his head a couple times and then saying, "let's go!" hahhaha! But, it would still be fun to experience that.
