Me too! They didn't last but a few years, though. The amount of chlorine in the lagoon was murder on their skin and hair. I do like the new guys in the lagoon, though...

Seeing all the cool old rides and attractions that used to be at Disney kind of makes me sad, a lot of them are so cool and unique only to be replaced with stuff for the new IPs. Poor animatronics getting their parts harvested to make new ones for the replacement attractions like some kind of dystopian horror story. Haven't been to Disney World since I was 8, I mostly remember the unbearable lines and bickering between everyone about what to do in one day. I liked the Haunted Mansion a lot though, that was cool.

Yes, I understand that. Believe me; I've been going to Disneyland since I was an infant. I remember those old rides and attractions. But Walt said that the Park was meant to grow, change and innovate. And so it has. The memories are there and thank goodness for old 8mm cameras and video.

One thing you learn as you get older is that we can't hold onto the past. We can love it and remember it , though. As Neil Peart told us: "changes aren't permanent, but change is."

Oh, I know. I'm certainly not one of those edgelords on the internet who are like "Bruh I was born in the wrong generation", which is stupid. It's just a bit disheartening as someone who consumes a lot of media from the mid 20th century to know I can't experience not nearly as many things as I'd like to. What am I going to tell my kids and grand kids while trying to explain why half the things I'm into were new in the 3 generations before me? Or even how I know why I somehow know more about it than my parents and grandparents.

I was born in the right generation, but I sure hope I live to see the invention of "Time Travel Vacations" (Paradox and permanent time travel changes shenanigans free).

As a former SCA member and medieval re-enactor, I grok. Honestly, it's nice to see someone in your age group be so interested in that time. Maybe you could get a degree in mid-20th century studies. Then you won't have to explain how you know all this stuff. It will just be your job.

Time Travel Vacations.... you make this old lady smile :)

A decade of Sun
As of June 2020, NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory — SDO — has now been watching the Sun non-stop for over a full decade. From its orbit in space around the Earth, SDO has gathered 425 million high-resolution images of the Sun, amassing 20 million gigabytes of data over the past 10 years. This information has enabled countless new discoveries about the workings of our closest star and how it influences the solar system.
