Could be one of the biggest horror movies of all time.

I am super happy because I will be able to watch this movie next week with my best friend. We had promised each other we would wait a few months to watch it together due to a personal situation. However the issue has been resolved.

Tell yez what, kids...I'm kinda excited about this one. Sure, I'm not a fan of the shifted time frame, not thrilled they're dropping all the classic monsters, and I don't much care for Bev's curly bobbed hairdo, but these are mere quibbles...movie looks pretty good. Doesn't look like a big tent-pole CGI extravaganza, and for that I'm glad. It ain't that kinda story. I'm gonna try to go see it, and I wanna make my son see it (he hates horror movies, heh heh...).

Fingers crossed. I hope it blows my freaking head off.

I'm actually getting a little nervous to go. I's scared.
Same here! I really, really want to see (it) IT, because I think it's going to kick ass, but I am also really afraid to be all squealy and jumpy in the cinema. :a11:
I'm not very good with visual horror, I prefer to read it unless I'm at home tucked behind a giant M.Effing squishy pillow.

No kiddin, but I'm doing it. IT.

I checked again, and still there are only 7 people in the entire theatre at that time. (1 o'clock Friday) They are all behind me.
The rest of the shows are almost sold out from opening to Sunday. Just a few left in the front rows for all times and I see that they have added additional showtimes.

They are all behind you?!!!! Oh boy, if the theatre doesn't fill up before the showing time... I would be moving!

I'm worried that my mom will be scared watching this movie; I had to try really hard to convince her to see this with me but when I showed her the Georgie/Pennywise storm drain scene she decided she wants to see it. My mom can't pass up a good movie.

I hope your head is still intact after the movie. We like hanging out with you here.

The change in time periods is the main one that turns me off. Absolutely no need to shift the kids timeline to the 80's. That's a pandering to the demographic move.

I dunno about that. The book was written in the early 80's and published in 1986 so the timeline harking to '57-'58 is correct for that time period.
Were it written in the past three or four years then the 27 year cycle would be accurate as well.

Besides, this way production, set & costume staff would only need to worry about making one time period look authentic; why waste money?

FYI, I haven't viewed it yet but, according to the Melbourne cinemas, this is Pt1.

From all I've gleaned from the trailers & IMDB it sums that there would be another movie-or two-to finish this project.

If I'm reading it right then this 'first' issuance is predominantly focused on the "Loser's" habituations rather than the constant flash-backs one experiences in the novel.

This is too bold, but, (what a weird and, at times, industrious word) in hindsight-perhaps-allowing the story to unfold in 'present time' then working back to the recipient, and experiential, knowledge of their youth with an ending of the first film in a cliffhanger of "what next" segueing into the chronological prequel mayhaps have more merit.

Rotten Tomatoes has it at 97% so far. I expect that will fluctuate as more critics are added to the pile. It should be noted that horror movies are rarely loved by the critics and one that can break 70% and sustain that margin is rare and definitely worth seeing. Cards on the table, I rarely go to the movies to see anything anymore. I've got myself a pretty good setup at home; I'm generally patient. In this case I will be there Friday night!

I'm too excited, I have booked tickets for the late night showing on Friday! I have also convinced my sister she should come too, she says she is bringing a blanket to hide behind......

I came here to say exactly this. At the very least a good sign. I have high hopes for this.

According to sources, "It" is the top pre-selling horror movie of all-time. It's also slated to have the biggest opening weekend in the history of September releases. I knew it'd be big. Going to see it, again, tonight.
