I really love this story. I wanted to sit next to her and help her. Quite a good bit of writing to imbue a ghost that's barely in the story with so much sympathy. I also love that the story had a happy ending. That doesn't happen often in horror stories.
I agree. Never before has a story collection so surpassed my expectations, and I haven't even finished the book. Joe Hill is a powerful writer. Period.

If it's okay with you guys, I'd like to choose "A Worn Path" by Eudora Welty. It is a short story I discovered last November and it takes place over the Christmas season although it's not a Christmas story, per se. Please, do me the honor of reading it- it'll break your heart. Welty is my favorite writer. Here is the author reading her story, but the free pdf is available online.
