Im hoping to start compiling a master list of Stephen King's Easter Eggs. What an Easter Egg is, in Mr King's case, is an intentional reference, theme, or recurring theme that signifies something greater than the story itself. Its one of Stephen King's attributes that I admire the most because a story is no longer a linear "Once Upon a Time.... " to "..and they lived happily ever after" because there are extra dimensions and tangeants that tie it to other stories in a much larger creative universe.
I usually look for Easter Eggs in Mr King's books passively, as I have done here, so I may have missed many. If you find any in Mr Mercedes, please post them here
1) kermitfrog19 - the screenname used for the Blue Umbrella website has the number 19, which is the Ka-Tet number in "The Dark Tower". The number 19 shows up in many of Mr King's books, sometimes it is concealed (such as adding numbers up to equal 19), or in plain view like the Uniform Number in Blockade Billy
2) roadie wearing the faded Judas Coin T-Shirt - Judas Coin is the central character in Joe Hill's "Heart Shaped Box"
3) tall thug wearing a NY Yankees hat - This is a recurring theme in most SK books. Although not limited to just bad people, a NY Yankees hat is usually worn by a bad person who may or may not be the main antagonist. Ever the Red Sox fan, I'm sure this is a light-hearted inside joke with Mr King...... Im a Mets fan, so I am not offended and continually thank the Red Sox nation for Bill Buckner
If you find more, please list
