When I was in 8th grade (when dinosaurs wandered the Earth) we did a production of The Miracle Worker. I played Helen Keller's mom (I wanted the part of Annie Sullivan so bad that it still bugs me). There are two scenes set during meals. For rehearsals we obviously couldn't have "real" food. So we rehearsed with these cereals. Really. Mostly Frankenberry and Boo-Berry. To this day I can't eat them. And I'm a cereal lover (my Mom once said that if it hadn't been for dry cereal I wouldn't have survived) so you know they have to elicit a strong gag response.
the old commercials of these are entertaining
just a never-ending bicker over which monster has the best cereals

I don't like most cereal, they're all the same. Also, have you ever noticed the premise to most cereal mascots is that they have a crippling addiction to the food? Children are watching animal characters submit to substance addiction every day.

I hadn't really noticed that but you're right! Especially that Coco Puffs bird. Dude is manic!

I would love to see a Who Framed Rodger Rabbit esque movie with brand mascots but in the style of Fritz the Cat. How the mascot world would be divided into different social classes, where all the cereal mascots are washed up junkies in and out of rehab

trying to remember all my halloween costumes

1- Lion
2- Bear
3- ???
4 and 5- Buzz Lightyear (My dad made a jetpack out of cardboard and I thought it was so cool)
6- Magician
7- Skeleton (One of those dumb pajamas with a skeleton branded on the front that glowed in the dark)
1571799841992.png
8- Werewolf (Good memories with this one, I really wanted to be a werewolf because like I said earlier werewolves are badass, my mom got a little wooly hat with ears poking out and I wore a plaid shirt with wooly fluff poking out of the cuffs and face paint for the face)
9- The Skylander Chop-chop
1571800201469.png
10- Now, some explanation to this. This was the tail end of my Skylanders phase and I wanted to be a "portal master" (some wizard that controls the sky landers or something I'm honestly not sure anymore), problem is that it's never shown what these people look like, the games just imply that you, the player, are one because you put the little plastic toys on the portal thing in the real world. So I just had this picture in my head of some badass wizard with a robe and a staff or something. Now, I didn't actually get anything to make this costume look anything competent or something, I just took a walking stick and took a jacket and draped it over my back like a cape by wearing the hoodie over my head and just walking around with it dangling behind me like a complete dumbass. I didn't even take a sky landers toy or anything to imply it was a skylanders costume, I just went with the jacket and the cape. Imagine how pissed off I was when like 3 or 4 people at the church fall festival told me "I like your Moses costume".

11 and 12- My dad helped me make a costume of the Mask possesed Skull Kid from Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask, we made a paper mâché mask with the spikes glued to the side. Although I was really pissed off the first time trick or treating because the terrible hat we made (overlarge heavy foam things glued to a plastic construction cap) kept falling apart as we were trick or treating

13- Me being the newly teenage edge lord that was too old for trick or treating wore this

14- Bruce the shark from Jaws (I had decided I actually wanted to trick or treat at the last second before the theatre dept halloween party so I tape a stuffed shark around a hat and drew red marker on his mouth)

Very creative costumes. It's really hard to think of new ones, especially if you don't want to go with store-bought ones. Though I admit I do have two store-bought ones: Malificent and the Evil Queen. :D

really wanted to try a homemade costume again, but it's too late to come up with and make one at this point, so I just bought the ol' reliable Ghostface outfit and knife, one of my friends is making an HEBuddy costume (don't ask)
Don't give up on the homemade costume idea. Just drop by your local thrift stores and see what speaks to you. I have found tons of things to make costumes for my daughter and me for really good prices over the years including a hobbit, Legolas and Yungblud.

Picked up 3 pumpkins yesterday. The family has been bugging the wife for her roasted spiced pumpkin seeds. And the wife and one daughter will be carving them in intricate patterns. They also made me pick up 2 battery operated pumpkin carving saws.

Whatever happened to the good old days of a knife and spoon and the simple mouth/eyes/nose design?

We got a huge pumpkin on Sunday and the kiddo did all of the scooping and carving this year. I roasted the pumpkin seeds, and her dad ate the pumpkin seeds. There are a few bits left that we have hidden from him.

Anyway, here is Jack 2019 on our porch with a big LED light inside!
